Miasma

((Three words: Bring It On))

It hadn't been long since he had arrived at the Xavier Institute, and while a part of him was surprised that he himself had stuck around for this long, Liam was not at all surprised that the faculty and students hadn't bothered to kick him out yet. It was just the same as it had been when he had been at St. Leonard's; he could do more things wrong than he ever did right, and as long as he followed it with a dazzling smile and a blown kiss he would still be allowed to stick around.

Me? Charming? You bet your ass.

Much to Liam's liking, while establishing himself at the mansion within his first few moments of being there as a lovable troublemaker in the eyes of many of the faculty, a dashingly handsome rogue in the eyes of many of the females, and an arrogant prick in the eyes of just about everyone. Though only having spent a couple sessions in the Danger Room with the rest of the New Mutants, Liam (or Miasma, depending on the situation) couldn't count on one hand the number of times Eclipse had taken a swing at him for doing something ridiculously stupid that put just about everyone else in the simulation in danger.

Wanker needs to pull that stick out of his ass pretty soon; else he's gonna find himself growing a deeply-rooted sphincter-tree.

While Miasma was more than willing to take on any of the older mutants (the "field leaders," according to that Summers-bloke), he had always been separated from Eclipse (or Gator, or Phantom, or Reverie, or Shield, or just about anyone else) before they could really exchange blows, which had always left Liam smirking at their fuming countenances, but also put-out himself for having missed a potentially-entertaining fight.

And where's the fun in that?

So, deciding that something needed to be done to "relieve the tension" amongst the student body, Liam decided the best plan of attack would be to do just that...attack. One afternoon, while all of the students were congregated in the Dining Hall, eating their nice little lunches as they talked about how awesome they all were (like you could ever hope to be me, kiddies), Liam got up from his seat with Mia and some of the others, picked up the small cup of pudding he had, and lobbed it at the back of Shield's head.

"Gator, how could you do that, mate? Enzo's supposed to be your friend! Oh, it's because Skye's in love with him, right? Yeah, I heard that from Paige, Cess, AND Ari, too! Wait, you said Lani said she could kick Will's ass? Oh, right, Teresa DID say that, too...AND GRAYDON SECRETLY LOVES BOSH?!?! Scandalous...what is Victor gonna say to that?"

Before they had a chance to react, Liam leapt atop the table and sprinted down the entire length before leaping to the adjacent table and doing the same, effectively spraying everyone with their own lunches and sparking many furious shouts. Leaping off the table towards the exit doors, he paused for a brief second to cackle and shout:

"Come get it, piss heads! HAHAHAHA!!!"

Sprinting as fast as his legs would carry him, hearing angry shouts and footsteps padding just at his heels, Liam burst forth out of the front door of the mansion, and ran towards one of the wide open side-lawns, pulling off his shirt so that he was just wearing the white tank top underneath. Whipping about madly, fists drawn, he readied himself for the madness that was about to ensue.

'Bout time we beat the piss out of each other...how the hell else are we supposed to be friends?

"Let's do it, bitches!" He cackled, eyes widening madly with bizarre joy. This was going to be too much fun.

Skye had been sitting amongst the other students having a laugh with Will and Teresa when Liam began his verbal assault on everyone within range, herself included. She looked up from her lunch sharply as she heard her name and turned beet red at the ridiculous accusation. She would have laughed at the rest of his announcement had he not insulted her at the very beginning.

Me, in love with Enzo? Is he completely mad???

He's gonna pay for that!

The blonde stood up furiously, knocking over her lunch and her friends' lunches in the process, barely noticing as she barrelled after the Aussie. She'd been wanting to beat the piss ant to a living pulp since he'd arrived with his smart mouth and disrespectful attitude.

Normally Skye was the type to let things like that roll right off her, but this time, from this bloke, was one time too many. He had put their team in precarious positions more often than Skye could count in Danger Room sessions, undermining every session leader as often as he could. The brat didn't take direction, refused to follow orders and on top of it all, had the gall to flirt with every single girl around as he did it, herself included. She was going to enjoy this, that was for sure.

Skye imagined herself pummelling his body with swift punches and kicks, beating him until he could no longer use his face as a means to avoid punishment. Liam thought he could get away with anything if he followed it with smile but Skye had proven herself to be one of the few girls at the mansion able to see through his cocky exterior. He needed to be taught a lesson and if no one else was going to do anything about it, she would take matters into her own hands.

The Brit had guessed that Liam would run for the Danger Room before she noticed the open front doors. Out on the lawn is he. Well, he's going to get a surprise. Skye could see the insolent boy standing out on the grass with his fists drawn, ready for the fight that he knew was coming. The teenage beauty smirked to herself as she quickened her step, her legs an almost indistinguishable blur of black. Her strong leg muscles worked overtime as she speeded towards him when suddenly, Skye became airborn.

The blone had decided her best course of action was to pin him and beat the living shit out of him while he was on the ground. And so she leaped towards him, full of grace, arms outstretched to grab his middle and pin him once they were on the ground. Let's see you get out of this one.

Mercury

Mercury watched Miasma's little display from across the lunch room and giggled. He was so cute and playful with that little smile of his and those darling grey eyes. He was also one of the only boys at the school who seemed to have any interest in Cessily at all. He called her "love" and "doll" and other little pet names. He smiled and winked at her all the time too. Cessily had also noticed that Miasma seemed to treat all the girls this way, but to her it didn't matter. For once in her life, a cute boy was actually paying attention to her. Her, despite her silver skin. Her, despite her semi-metallic state that she couldn't turn off. Her, despite her red hair and freakish looking eyes. Well, she would be damned before she let anybody hurt him, at least at this point in time, despite what her girl friends were all telling her about Liam, that he was bad news.

She was up from the table in a flash and streaked off after everyone, in hot pursuit of Phantom in particular, who seemed to have it in for Liam, not that most of the others after him were any different. Cessily used her powers to lengthen her legs a little, making her just a little faster due to a longer stride once they got outside. It allowed her to just cut off Phantom and as the older girl dove for Liam. Cessily dove and wrapped her arms firmly around Phantom's waist, the momentum carrying Phantom from her anticipated arc to miss Liam completely. "Don't you hurt him, bitch," Mercury shrieked, reaching back to slap Phantom hard across the face. "They all pay attention to you because you're, you're normal looking," she continued, hauling back for another slap across Phantom's face. "It's not fair! Liam looks at me even though I'm a freak! Just because you all think he's bad news doesn't mean he is!" As Cessily's hand came whizzing down for another resounding slap across Phantom's face a pair of scaled green arms wrapped around her waist and hauled her back off of Phantom before the silver colored mutant could make contact again. The big reptilian shot Phantom a look that clearly said "If you come at Mercury I will make you regret it, I will handle her" and his tail swished back and forth with powerful swings indicating quite clearly that he would have no qualms in swinging the tail into Phantom with the force of a Major League power hitter if she made any move at retribution.

"Phantom is a team leader," James said softly in Mercury's ear as he lifted the girl effortlessly from the ground. "She may be shortsighted at times, and even cruel. But, Scott and Emma have deemed her worthy of leadership, despite her seeming deficiencies, and therefore she has earned respect," the reptilian mutant concluded, continuing to tightly restrain Mercury. Today was James' last day at the Institute before he and Freya would be leaving for the Genosha school. While the reptilian would have dearly loved to join in the bloodying of Liam with the others, he felt it best to remain out of the fray and not get himself into trouble. Roberto had clearly seen some quiet leadership abilities in the scaled mutant with the acidic spit, even if those qualities would likely never lend themselves well to a leadership position on an actual team. "Also, I think you need to ask yourself something," James said, pulling himself and Mercury from the fray to a safe distance.

"You're allowing yourself to become blinded, Cessily. Blinded by the need for acceptance from those who appear as normal humans on the outside. Blinded by your desire to be loved, or at least feel like someone cares deeply about you. I'm asking you now, do you really think, in your heart of hearts and in your head that Liam cares even a little about you in any kind of serious romantic sense?" The big reptilian was on a roll now, and Cessily's anger seemed to be dissipating as the distance between herself and Phantom grew. It didn't hurt any that she couldn't see or hear Liam through the wriggling morass of students. "Do you remember when he first arrived here? How he treated Jubilee? How I reacted to him? In the short time that you have known me, have you ever seen me act violently towards anyone else? Even when Nate and Leech come and annoy me? Even when I am not included in some of the activities of the others because of my appearance? Cessily, he is using you. He's treating you as an object, the same way he treats all the female students. You're a bright girl, surely you see it."

Jubilee had been sitting with Paige and Cess eating her lunch when Liam's tirade began. She looked around, then after a couple of moments that, yes, the only thing that ever came out of his mouth was just a load of rubbish to try and get attention, although she was a little hurt she hadn't warrented a mention. Jubilee rolled her eyes and turned back to Cess and Paige, then noticed that one had gone after him.

"Cessily!" Jubilee yelled after her in a vain attempt to get her to stop. Jubilee had noticed how Cessily acted whenever Liam made one of his comments, called her a little pet name, and how Cessily didn't seem to have realised he did that to everyone. Jubilee leapt out of her seat and ran after then students already chasing Liam, even if she wasn't planning on beating the hell out of him, she could try and help Cessily see the sense of letting other people do it.

She skidded to a halt on the grass, it looked like James had already manged to stop Cessily from doing something stupid, hadn't she? Then why was Skye on the floor? Damn these girls with their long legs, they always managed to get there just a bit before Jubilee.

"Skye, you ok?" Jubilee called, racing over to her and putting out a hand to help her up. "What was all that about?" she added snappily, turning towards Liam, "have you got a single brain cell in your body? Just so you know, that ain't the best way to go about making friends 'round here, bub." she said puntuating her words with a strong poke at his chest. She just didn't get Liam. He could easily be one of the most popular kids around here, but he seemed intent on getting up as many people's backs as possible.

Graydon hadn?t touched his food since the new kid, Liam, had spoken. He didn?t know exactly how to react to the words that were spoken to him. His eyes quickly darted two tables over to where Bosh and Coral were sitting. It had been almost a week since he and the intangible mutant had argued in the library and since than neither had said one word to each other. Deep down, Gray missed his friend.

It might have been that reason alone which provoked Miasma to make such a claim. But whether it was true or not, Liam didn?t need to say it. Not that it is true, the young Canadian quickly thought to himself. He noticed a few members of his team rising up to engage the smoke mutant somewhere. Graydon quickly rose too and followed Jubilee out the front door of the manor.

By the time they arrived there, Skye was already on the ground, and Jubilee had run over to see if she was hurt. James had taken Cess aside, so the path was clear to Miasma. Graydon, filled with hate for the young Aussie, walked directly up to him and pushed a pointer finger hard into his chest. ?Why do you got to be like that man, eh?? he yell, tiny drops of spit flew from his mouth.

?Vic?s a great guy, and so is Bosh. Just cause you?re homophobic doesn?t give you the right to say shit like that,? the boy?s caramel eyes dug deeply into Liam?s. He released his finger from the idiot?s chest and began to walk away. ?Or maybe it?s cause you got your own little feelings toward us guys and that?s why you feel the need hound us constantly??

Hoser!

Liam grinned broadly as he saw that Skye was the one to unleash the first assault upon him. Like several girls he had met before (not many, but a few) she seemed steeled in her resolve NOT to like him, and thereby was highly reactive to just about every obnoxious habit he had. It probably didn't help matters much that he completely ignored her authority when in the Danger Room and followed all of her physical attacks with, "any excuse to touch me, eh girly?"

So when he saw the tall blonde come barrelling towards him at full-tilt, Liam didn't even bother to try and side-step her actions as she flew through the air, and braced himself for the surely-painful impact that was soon to follow, smirk ever-present on his face. He even had the perfect thing to say to send her completely over the edge ("Don't you think this behavior would be better suited for the bedroom?"), but sighed in shock and mild-disappointment when Cessily came rocketing from Skye's left and tackled the girl before she had a chance to make contact with Liam at all. If he were honest with himself, he would have to admit that he was baffled by how readily Mercury had proceeded to smack the shit out of Skye's face, and he coughed in shock as he saw Gator tear her away to talk her down, and had Jubilee's finger poking him in the chest only moments later, which was soon accompanied by Graydon's finger replacing it.

"What was all that about? Have you got a single brain cell in your body? Just so you know, that ain't the best way to go about making friends 'round here, bub."

?Why do you got to be like that man, eh?? he yell, tiny drops of spit flew from his mouth.

?Vic?s a great guy, and so is Bosh. Just cause you?re homophobic doesn?t give you the right to say shit like that. Or maybe it?s cause you got your own little feelings toward us guys and that?s why you feel the need hound us constantly??

"You honestly don't get it, do ya?" Liam spoke, taking on a mildly irritated tone. "Back home, if we've got a problem with someone, we beat the piss out of each other, then it's DONE! None of this brooding 'I'm mad at so-and-so, but don't tell them I'm mad at them' crap...it's stupid. I know the only way any of us are going to be real friends around here is if we all stop this prancing around, and fight it out. And, sorry mate, but I'm not interested in you...I prefer blondes."

With that, Liam darted to the side of Jubilee and Skye, leapt over to where Gator was still administering his bullshit-pep talk to the maddened Cessily, and jumped to land a solid kick directly to Gator's jaw. While he hadn't been too terribly pissed at the reptile for trying to humiliate him at the dock, he liked to take full advantage of the fact that the boy obviously did not like him, and Liam sure as hell wasn't afraid of the gecko-boy.

"You're right, Gator, I am bad news," Liam grinned madly, his eyes shining. "Now let's see how good you are at taking me out when you're not attacking me from behind, pansy."

Skye was just in the middle of her dive when she felt a pair of arms around her waist and before she could look down to see who the culprit was, the blonde had sailed right over her intended target. Before landing on the soft grass, she pushed the hold on her open and somersaulted gracefully onto the lawn surrounding the X-Mansion. Coming to a rest on her knees, the impalpable mutant was shocked to not only see Cessily was the one who'd intercepted her attack but that she was coming in for one of own!

"Don't you hurt him, bitch," Mercury shrieked, reaching back to slap Phantom hard across the face. In a flash Skye reached up and grabbed the girl's wrist before the hit could make contact. The blonde was too stunned to speak at Mercury's outburst.

"They all pay attention to you because you're, you're normal looking," she continued, hauling back for another slap across Phantom's face. "It's not fair! Liam looks at me even though I'm a freak! Just because you all think he's bad news doesn't mean he is!" This slap however made contact and the feel of metal on skin was one that the girl would never forget for it was the most pain she'd felt in a long time. Except for that time she fell off the roof and broke her collarbone but that was a different story.

The pain subsided a bit and the words finally registered in the Brit's brain. Cessily has a crush on Liam. Ha, good luck metal face. Skye's eyes became slits in anger as Mercury reared back for a third attempt but was this time stopped by Gator. As he hauled her away, the blonde reached her hand up to her face and felt the heat there as the blood had all rushed to her injured cheek. Well, that was gonna leave a mark.

Just as she was putting her hand down and getting ready to stand, Skye heard her name and felt a hand on her shoulder. "Skye, you ok?" It was Jubilee, and Skye was relieved. The Chinese-American girl was a friend, although the pair didn't spend a lot of time together. Mostly they caused trouble in their classes with their constantly running mouths. Managing a grin, Skye replied,"Oh yeah, nothing a little ice won't cure, Jubes." Nodding in the direction of the metal mutant against the green, she added, "Cessily went a little mad."

Skye looked around the lawn, scanning it for Liam once again when she saw that he was first being talked to by Gray and then suddenly Jubilee was poking her finger in his chest. The two were obviously as amused by his antics as she was. Letting out a sigh, Skye was just about to join the two, eventually leading to a beat down of the meathead, when Liam leaped over to where Gator was calming down a frenzied Metal Face. The blonde's jaw dropped in shock as the smoke mutant dealt Gator a solid kick to the jaw and whooped before she could stop herself.

Sure, she'd been nice to him when they'd first arrived but his increasing attentions to her (like tracking her heat signature all the time, all over the mansion) made the Londoner uncomfortable, and more anything else, made her want to roundhouse kick him in the face. If there was anything left of the big green guy when Liam was through, Skye thought she'd like to have a go.

The mansion had experienced yet another characteristic wave of students as of late, and Will Howards found himself, along with his girlfriend and her best friend and one or two others, as one of the junior field leaders to their class of New Mutants. Due to the ever-increasing student body, and the range of ages, it became nearly impossible for their to be one clearly-defined leader (though if there was, it would undoubtedly be Skye), so responsibilities had been divided amongst some of the older, more mature students...and Will himself.

To see that he didn't enjoy his status position would be a lie, but he couldn't honestly say there weren't some issues that he could have done without. First and foremost, in their latest batch of new students, the wind had swept in an obnoxious smoke cloud that called himself "Liam," and life at the mansion had never been the same.

Though he heard from others that Bosh, in his younger days, was much the same way, Will highly doubted that Bosh commanded the intense love-hate relationship that Liam had already garnered amongst every single student of the school. He wondered to himself sometimes how Teresa was just able to laugh off all of his antics, while the boy simply grated on nearly every nerve that he had. If she hadn't held back he and Skye all those times after their Danger Room sessions, there's no telling what would have been left of the renegade Aussie. The worst part of it all...Will kind of liked the kid. Yeah, he was a pain in the ass, and annoyed the hell out him, and flirted with Teresa too much (but he did that with EVERY girl), but the kid was just too damn funny.

Some things you just got to admit to.

Now, though, as he sat across the table from Enzo and Skye, Teresa on his right, he saw behind Enzo's head the little bastard rise from his chair and lauch a chocolate missile that collided with the back of Enzo's dark hair. Pudding running down his friend's neck and into his shirt, Will slapped a hand over his mouth to contain the gasp of surprise and bubble of laughter that was threatening to escape. Before he had a chance to do anything though, Liam had climbed atop the tables and started yet another of his infamous rants.

"Hey! Why does everyone want to kick MY ass?!" Will began to shout, but he was cut short when Liam blasted across the table in front of him, spilling his drink all over his pristine white shirt. Nose wrinkling, he shot the Aussie an icy stare and grinned to himself, thankful for the opportunity to finally give this kid a sanctioned beat-down.

"It is so ON!" He growled through a snarling smile, and rose from his seat to chase after the gathering crowd that was pursuing the ass who had called them all out, grabbing Teresa's hand as he got up and running with her out there.

When they emerged onto the grass covered lawn, it was just in time to see Liam land a well-placed kick in the jaw of the scaly-assed giant who called himself Gator.

"Daaaaamn, dude," Will gaped, before screaming out his best Conan battle-cry impersonation, leaping towards Gator and Miasma both, thrusting his fists into the sides of both of their faces, hoping his surprise attack would catch them both off guard.

"This is why you guys always sucked at blocking in the DR..."

Enzo was sort of slow to realize what was going on. When a hand to the back of his head revealed pudding, he grunted in disgust. Turning around he tried to spot his assailant, only to whip his head around again to find Liam sprinting across the table, spraying a squashed banana in his face as he went. Spitting the debris from his mouth and wiping the remnants of the fruit from his eyes took a few moments, so he was among the last to begin the sprint from the Dining Hall and out to the lawn. Before leaving the now discombobulated Dining Hall, he grabbed a pudding cup of his own. As his feet pounded the floors of the mansion he tried to think of what he had done to Liam lately. Not that Liam really seemed the type that needed to be provoked to be an asshat...he reminded him of one of his older cousins.

Shooting out the doors of the mansion and into the outdoors, the day's pleasant weather was in stark contrast to the not so pleasant brawl that was occuring on the mansion's beautifully manicured lawns. Gator was restraining Cessily at the moment, but how long would that last? She could just liquify and kick him in the back of the head right? Enzo almost allowed himself to laugh at that last thought, before it was replaced by a seething rage once more. Liam was making some nigh nonsensical pseudo-speech about settling things while being veritably surrounded by those who would gladly "settle" him. Not only that, he kicked Gator in the face. "I wonder if he realizes Gator could probably tear him in half?" he thought as he began his sprint towards Liam.

Fight it out? He can do that. Liam was clearly the larger in the impending altercation, but that really wasn't what was on Enzo's mind. It's not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog and all that. Now running at almost full speed, the seething Italian lowered his shoulder and planted it squarely in the Aussie's chest, along with a nice cup of chocolate pudding. Adrenaline rushing through him caused him to act quite out of character as Enzo kicked Liam in the side as he lay on the ground. "Let's go stranso," he spat as he raised his fists and assumed a fighting stance.

As the song went, Enzo was usually a lover not a fighter...but enough was enough. And when there was pudding and his hair and one of his favorite shirts, the gap between not enough and enough was a small one. He certainly wasn't interested in starting any fights, but he was positively going to finish one.

A silent body in a mass of shifting, giggling, and talking students, Lani had set herself down at a table to eat her lunch, secluded, yet not at the same time. While she was sitting just a chair over from a couple of younger girls, listening to their conversation and nodding along with the cues, she didn't say anything to them. This, however, was common Lani behavior. Quiet, supportive, and comforting. Involved, but never too close to any situation.

So, it would come as no surprise that when the new Australian student, one Liam, burst from his seat, shouted accusations of outrageous proportions, slapped everyone's food up out of their plates, then fled the scene of the crime, all Lani reacted with immediately was an expression of mild surprise. Dark eyes followed the boy as he fled the room, but were brought back to the girls she was seated with by the cries of the girl closest to her, not cries of anger, but cries of surprise and pain. When the young girl's food flew off her plate, she had managed to get sauce of a spicier sort in her eyes. With an expression of concern on her face, the Hawaiian mutant unscrewed the lid of her water bottle, stood, and tilted the girl's chair back.

"Hold still and try and keep your eyes open, Brittney. This'll be cold, but it'll help."[b] When the girl nodded in understanding, Lani started to slowly pour water over the girl's face, close to the eyes, rinsing them out one after the other. Once through, and content that the sauce had been flushed completely from the girl's eyes, Lani set her bottle on the table, tilted the girl's chair up, and took a few napkins that had escaped being covered in food to offer them to the now wet Brittney. The girl gave her thanks and began to dry off, and Lani turned to follow out the door and onto the lawn after all the other students that had charged after the disruptive Liam.

What Lani saw when she reached the lawn, however, was definately not what she had expected to see. Skye, with a reddened and assulted face, stood on what appeared to be the sidelines while Gator held on to the little metal-bodied girl. Seemingly unprovoked, Liam threw a kick right to Gator's face, and moments later, Will tossed himself into the fray by punching not only Liam, but Gator in the face as well! And on top of that, Enzo, another of the kids she expected to act responsibly, joined the fight by body slamming Liam in the chest!

[b]"What on earth..?" Lani was perplexed, and perhaps somewhere deep down a little amused, but she knew that this had to be put to an end. Violence was necessary at times, but this was a situation spawned of nothing but spite, frayed nerves, feelings of revenge, and had already become a cesspool of violence of a senseless sort. There were no teachers about, those that were supposed to be the responsible ones in her class, the ones dubbed 'Danger Room Leaders', were involved in what promised to become a bloody mosh pit, so Lani saw that the duty to break this up was now hers.

With a sigh of resolve, the islander marched herself across the lawn to where the boys and Mercury, caught in the middle, were tussling, and pushed herself between them. Her tail wrapped about Liam's waist to keep him still, and pulled him out away from the group. She wrapped one arm about Will's neck, and she pulled him to the side so that her body was between him and Gator. Her other hand snapped out with trained speed and precision, and captured Enzo's wrist firmly in her grasp. As for Gator, she trusted that her presence alone would be enough to sedue the large reptilian boy. Now, with the four held at four corners of a rectangle away from one another, Lani spoke up.

"Now that's quite enough."

These four words were said with all the authority she could muster, and mimicked in a tone that she had heard Professor Xavier use several times before when gently scolding an unruly student. Hopefully, with those currently combating one another 'disabled' things would calm down.

Teresa had been sitting in the dining hall quietly enjoying her lunch along with Will, Skye, Enzo, and a few others. The day hadn't been too eventful so far; oddly enough, a majority of the student body had been behaving themselves as of late, a feat not easily accomplished in a school filled with mutants of varying abilities. She should have known it wasn't meant to last.

Teresa's eyes widened in both shock and amusement at the pudding thrown at Enzo's head and all the ridiculous statements Liam spouted out before running wildly across the tables. In the course of 30 seconds, he had managed once again to alienate just about every single member of the student body. What an ass. Though she honestly couldn't say she wasn't the slightest bit amused by the claim of Skye's love for Enzo or Lani's ability to kick Will's ass... I probably would say that, anyway... hehehe.

Rolling her eyes in annoyance as she reached for a napkin to wipe off the random splattering of food off of her lap, Teresa was about to comment on the idiocy of the newer recruit when Skye suddenly rocketed from her place at the table. "Skye, don--!" she exclaimed before being jerked from her seat by Will. Stumbling along behind him and a multitude of other annoyed students as they raced out the front doors of the manor, Teresa wrenched her hand free of Will's grip once they reached the front steps. What she saw before her caused her mouth to drop open in shock and disgust at the so-called "responsible" students in school. Skye was on the ground, face beet red from being slapped by Cessily, and Liam, Will, Enzo, Gator, and Cessily were all involved in a tussle to the side. Rushing over to where Skye was, Teresa knelt down beside her. "Are you okay??" she asked, glancing at her sore cheek. At least it wasn't bleeding. Standing, she addressed Jubilee, who appeared to have just finished giving Liam hell for his actions inside. "God, these people are stupid!"

Eyes narrowing in anger at the obvious stupidity of the boys (and a few of the girls), Teresa stormed over to the site of the battle, now being broken up by Lani. Though the dino-girl seemed to be getting things under control with the help of her tail, Teresa knew it probably wouldn't last long if things got heated again. Rolling her eyes and shaking her head at Lani in a "what are they thinking?!" gesture, Teresa shot daggers at all of the people previously in the fray. She may have been a bit younger than a few of them, but she wasn't stupid. After one more well-placed "I'm going to kill all of you" look at the group, she broke into big-sister mode.

"What the HELL were you guys thinking?!?! How freakin IRRESPONSIBLE can you be?!?! This isn't FUNNY...!" Groaning in frustration, Teresa grabbed Will by the arm and wrenched him from Lani's grasp, pulling him away from the others. "And YOU!! What the hell is your problem?!?! How could you?!?!" Smacking him hard on the arm and still yanking him back towards the school (for though she was short, she was definitely stronger than one might expect), Teresa muttered several expletives under her breath. Her normally well-controlled temper was threatening to boil over. If any of them say ANYTHING or do ANYTHING to try to start this again, I swear to God I'm going to kill them...

Beauty of a kick.

Some might have called it perfect, even. The grace with which he slipped off the grass, spun lightly in the air bringing his foot around with startling speed, and the sickening crack that accompanied his heel slamming into the point of Gator's reptilian jaw; it was like watching a brutally wonderful ballet. Liam was well aware that Gator's size and strength would completely outweigh his own, and he was sure that he would not be taking out the giant lizard in one fell swoop, but he hadn't expected the reptile to recover quickly enough to land a solid punch in his face and...tackle him?

What the hell? Oof.

It had been Eclipse's fist that had collided with the side of his face, as it turned out, disorienting him enough and splitting his gums so that he smiled with reddened teeth that when he looked up to take on the second older opponent, he was completely caught off guard by a third presence running their pudding-covered shoulder into his chest.

I shoulda seen that one coming...

Regardless of the wind being knocked out of him, and then the searing pain as his ribs cracked slightly from the hard kick to the side (What's with these people and cheap shots? Honestly?), Liam rose to his feet and dusted himself off, spitting blood onto the grass and smirking as he wiped some off of his cheek. Drawing up his fists towards Enzo, smirking in amusement at the other boy's fighting stance. Oh, the fun had truly begun.

"Let's go stranso."

"I have no bloody idea what you just said, mate," Will chuckled, hurling himself towards the Italian. No sooner than he launched his assault, he slid to a halt to pause with everyone else to look at Lani and Teresa, so obviously unimpressed by their little display that the two of them had morphed into mother-mode. Turning to Eclipse, he put a stern expression on his face and shouted.

"Yeah, Will? What the hell is your problem? First you start this fight, and then you have to bring your mother out here to spank you for being naughy! What kind of example are you trying to set? Blimey..."

Placing his hands in his back pockets, he strolled seriously over to stand in between Lani and Teresa, where they both stood authoritatively, and admonished the rest of them.

"These ladies are right! You should ALL be ashamed! Lani, Teresa, thank you for your infinite wisdom, and for gracing us with your flawless beauty."

And with that, he quickly turned to Lani, dipping her in his arms and planting a firm kiss on her lips, then spun quickly after righting Lani and did the same to Teresa.

"Now, please, either start punching someone, or have a seat and enjoy yourself...it's play time!"

Liam then leapt forward as quickly as he could, taking full advantage of the shock that had certainly spread through the crowd, and fired a sucker punch directly towards Enzo's stomach, ready to fire things up once again.

This fight wasn't over yet...and it wouldn't be until everyone left with a toothless smile.

Skye was still standing on the sidelines enjoying the bloody mess that Liam had created when Teresa joined, enquiring about her crimson cheek. Grinning with the side of her face that didn?t hurt like a bitch, she replied, ?Yeah, just in the mood for some revenge now.? Looking back towards the fray, Skye saw Teresa heading towards the knot of people, as Lani first slowed down the beatings and then stopped them completely, holding back the four boys with different limbs. The blonde had to admire Lani for her responsible behaviour, but right now, that wasn?t what they needed.

For all her dependable actions in the Danger Room, Skye had a savage side that up until now had lain dormant. She had never been in a real fight in her life, unless you counted kickboxing class which she didn?t, and had always secretly wanted to take part in one. Here was her chance and she wasn?t going to let it slip away quite that easily. She was a little bruised but that was all, she was by no means out of the fight.

Moving her jaw from side to side, Skye followed behind her best friend, amused at her reprimand of everyone in sight. As Liam distracted everyone with his ?seduction? of Jurassic and Reverie, the Brit took the opportunity to get a hold of Cessily, grabbing Metal Face as she?d begun to think of her, by the shirt and dragging her away from James. There would be no saving her this time. Throwing Cessily back onto the ground, Skye placed her foot in the middle of the girl?s chest, keeping her pinned against the well-tended grass. Phantom kept all her weight down on her foot, holding her down with perhaps a little more force than necessary. .

?You want to slap people, do you? Well, you hit like a girl. But I don?t.? Quick as a flash, the blonde knelt down on top of the other girl?s chest, reared her right arm back and hit her square in the jaw as hard as she could. She felt her knuckles crack as she did so but the slight pain was nothing compared to what Mercury must have been feeling. Skye knew a thing or two about hitting people, having taken kickboxing lessons since she was 10 years old and learning new additions to her technique all the time in their classes at the Institute. Cessily had only been around the mansion for a little while Skye had been around for over 3 months and had learned more than anyone thought in that space of time.

Phantom stood, releasing Cessily from her death grip, spitting in the grass in the process and looked down at the girl still lying on the ground. ?You weren?t even worth the effort.?

((OOC: Uh oh, you pissed her off...))

"First you start this fight, and then you have to bring your mother out here to spank you for being naughy!"

Teresa stiffened at the voice of the Aussie asshole behind her. A part of her knew he was purposely trying to provoke her, but another part was too angry right at that point to care. Releasing Will?s arm, she did an about-face and marched back to where she had been only moments prior. ?What did you say to me?!?

"These ladies are right! You should ALL be ashamed! Lani, Teresa, thank you for your infinite wisdom, and for gracing us with your flawless beauty."

Fists balled in rage, Teresa was very nearly shaking in anger as the insolent prick made the remark about her and Lani?s intelligence. As soon as she was about to unleash another round of admonishments at the younger boy, she was cut off by Liam swiftly pulling Lani into a deep kiss, followed quickly by him dipping Teresa backwards as well, planting a kiss right on her lips before she had a chance to protest. Righted once again, Teresa stood in a state of shock, eyebrows raised in disbelief. Who the hell does he think he is?!?!

As Liam shouted something about fighting and leapt at Enzo, Teresa broke from her stupor as the full realization of what happened hit her. Temper no longer under control, she was compelled to vent her frustrations, and now had the perfect target in her line of sight. Oh, you?re gonna pay for that?

Running over to where Liam now stood, Teresa grabbed him by the shoulder and used all her strength to try to spin him around. Face to face now, she pulled her arm back and tried to slap him, hard, across the face. Her left hand still on Liam?s shoulder, Teresa smiled wickedly as an evil thought flitted across her mind.

Maybe he won?t think with the wrong head anymore if it?s out of commission.

Drawing her leg back, Teresa summoned all the force she could muster, a culmination of all the frustrations and annoyances she had so far suppressed whenever dealing with the boy, and planted her knee hard into Liam?s groin. She wasn?t sure how the action could ever possibly be dodged; likewise, she wasn?t sure how he was going to manage getting up after the blow was dealt. But at that point in time, Teresa really didn?t care.

?Don?t mess with me.? Payback?s a bitch, isn?t it? she couldn?t help but think to herself.

Satisfied, Teresa began to walk away from the other students and the ever-growing fight. She really didn?t care to mess with any of the other students; besides Liam?s comments and inappropriate actions of a minute before, she didn?t have any real problems with anyone else. The question is, do any of them have any problems with me? The thought was fleeting, as she found herself having to dodge one person or another as their own personal battles encroached upon her path. There was no stopping the fight now; she just hoped she wasn?t pulled back into it any time soon.

The reptilian mutant shot Liam a glare. The Aussie?s kick had done about zero damage to the big green guy, though you wouldn?t have thought it from the sound. All things considered, most of the students present would have to use their powers if they wanted to have any chance of seriously doing damage to James, that scaled hide was pretty good protection from physical attacks. He was about to release Mercury and retaliate when he felt another blow connect with him, again with less than spectacular results.

Suddenly, Lani stepped into the middle of the fight with Teresa and the Hawaiian effectively separated Enzo, Will, and Liam from each other, trusting James to not launch any kind of attack while she was present. Her trust was well placed, and James released Cessily who stood rooted to the spot, her attention focused completely on Liam.

Just as it seemed Lani and Teresa had everything under control, Liam suddenly grabbed Lani and kissed her before doing the same to Teresa. When Cessily saw that she turned and fled towards the Mansion as fast as she could go, Liam?s nature finally becoming clear to her as tears streaked her silver face. For James it was bad enough that Liam had kissed Teresa, who was already spoken for, but then to repeat the action with Lani was unforgivable in the reptilian?s book.

As he advanced on Liam he was pleased to see Teresa turn and knee him in the groin coupled with a slap to the face that rocked Liam?s head around several degrees. Stepping angrily up behind Enzo and Will, James grabbed each of them by the backs of their shirts. ?Forgive me, but this is now my battle. I will explain later if I must, do not interfere? you will both have ample opportunity at a later date.?

With those words he propelled both boys out of the arena that had formed and into the growing circle of students. Next, he put a hand on Lani?s shoulder and leaned in close. ?This is personal, I ask that you forgive me for going against what you want, no doubt,? he said in a low whisper, and pushed Lani gently to the side. ?Teresa,? he barked to the angry girl as Liam writhed. ?You have great reason to be angry, but this is my fight,? James commanded in an authoritative tone. ?You, Enzo, and Will can pick up the pieces, this is my only chance.? He gave her a very slight nudge in the shoulder to move her aside.

He rounded on Liam, who was still on the ground, writhing from Teresa?s assault. ?Get up,? James snarled, grabbing Liam none to gently and hauling the Aussie to his feet with one hand and standing him on his feet. ?I?m going to teach you to keep your lips to yourself,? he growled, his face inches from Liam?s. ?Are you ready,? he demanded of Liam. ?All of you stay out of this, he?s mine,? James said loudly, addressing the group. The reptilian mutant so rarely asked anyone for anything, being a typically soft-spoken individual by nature. He was trusting in his teammates to begrudge him his only request during his time at the Mansion as his tail swished angrily back and forth like a Louisville Slugger waiting to be swung as he waited for Liam to acknowledge readiness in some manner.

Graydon could only watch the destruction of his team take place. It was the complete opposite to what he had witnessed a few weeks ago when he traveled to Canada with the X-men. They worked as a unit, a true team, not like the bunch of immature children fighting for nothing. As the boy planted his feet on the sidelines, he could only shake his head as he continued to watch.

As his vision showed the kiss between Lani and Liam, and than Liam and Theresa, he could only place one thought in his head. I prefer blondes my ass, he mocked his Australian comrade. One by one, each of his team field leaders struck into action. Skye, Will, Enzo, and Theresa, they all took up arms against the rogue. ?Are they trying to get expelled?? he murmured under a breath.

His view stuck with Lani however. He felt for her. She tried her hardest to stop what was going on, and she was mocked because of it. Part of him felt anger toward his fellow students for their disrespect toward the dino-girl, but he didn?t want to become like them. He didn?t want to act first, and think later.

Graydon soon noticed however that Skye had removed herself from the central fight and began picking on one of the newer recruits, Cessily. The boy quickly raced over to the two and began trying to separate that once more. He respected Skye more than she knew. For the most part, she was always his field leader in the Danger Room, and she was, without question, the best leader among the teens. Her actions however today did not represent that.

?What the hell are you doing girl?? he yelled at her, trying to pull the young woman?s weight off his peer. Even though she resisted, he continued to try and talk sense into her. ?You want to lose everything you?ve worked so hard for? Professor Xavier and Mr. Summers won?t stand for this kind of behavior!?

Victor was sitting by himself in the lunch hall. Having arrived late, all the seats at his table of choice were taken. To avoid becoming friends with somebody he didn?t even necessarily like, the empty table in the corner had been his next choice. It was free of small talk, free of meaningless gossip, and there was no idle thoughts being expressed through words that really only turn out to be hateful and angry mistakes. In some ways his solitary table was better than sitting with the New Mutants.

At the table of hyperactive teenagers with god-complexes, all there was to talk about was somebody who was out of earshot or the speaker would chat about their great accomplishments. It?s one thing to be proud of yourself for doing something and Victor saw no harm in telling others of personal success, but it was another thing to talk about individual achievements to make one?s self look better than those to whom one is bragging.

Apart lunch time chat, Victor loved his new teammates (most of them anyway). They were his new family and they made him feel right at home. He felt accepted, like he had before in his old hometown. They were funny, regular teenagers (despite all appearances), who just enjoyed having fun with each other. In his first couple of hours at the institute, the green mutant still hadn?t gained very many close friends.

Sure, he was an all around friend with everyone but he didn?t have a huge bonding relationship with someone, like all the others did. Yes, there was Graydon, the teenager who had been apart of the team that Victor first met in Canada. The two had their fair share of time spent together while they hung out with the adult X-Men.

?Well,? Victor thought to himself as he poked at his food. ?I guess the more I think about it? we are kinda good friends. In fact, Graydon and Jean-Paul are probably my closest??

Victor was pulled away from his thoughts by the accented voice of Liam, the outspoken Aussie with a dirty mouth and (as far as Victor was concerned) a horrible personality. He was standing up now, saying something in a sarcastic voice. It seemed like Miasma was taking personal blows at almost the whole New Mutants team. Victor had heard insults being thrown at members of his team before, and like then he was totally content on ignoring every word the attention-seeking Australian had to say.

That was until he heard the name of his good friend Graydon. ??and Graydon secretly loves Bosh?!?! Scandalous? what is Victor gonna say to that??

Victor?s mouth was gaping open in shock. ?Did he really just say that?? he asked himself out loud. Before he could give a schizophrenic answer, the whole place was in an uproar. Liam fled the scene of his verbal crime and many of the New Mutants ran after him in hopes of beating the bloke like a bloody piece of meat that needed tenderizing. As the dining room cleared, Victor leapt from his seat and ran out of the building with the crowd.

The first thing he could see outside was Phantom, who was pretty much the team?s leader, being pulled from the air by Cessily, the full metal mutant. Victor could almost hear the chorus of Brooke Valentine?s ?Girlfight? in the background of the movie scene unfolding before his eyes. The green skinned teen wasn?t much for fighting teammates, even after being criticized like he was. So he was totally content by standing on the sidelines and watching. But of course, if things got out of hand, he wasn?t going to be the one to try and stop it but he might as well join in.

Jubilee and Graydon both approached Liam and chastised him for his immature words. Victor jogged his was closer so he could hear the two let him have it.

?Vic?s a great guy, and so is Bosh. Just ?cause you?re homophobic doesn?t give you the right to say shit like that. Or maybe it?s cause you got your own little feelings toward us guys and that?s why you feel the need to hound us constantly??

?Maybe we do have a pretty good relationship after all,? Victor said to himself as he heard the Canadian student speak. However, all of the wise words spoken by the two seemed to go unheard as the young man argued back and then jumped from his own spot and started yet another little punching match. His victim was Gator, the (in Victor?s mind) hilarious reptile, who was trying to settle down the enraged Cessily.

From there everything seemed to just get worse. It was really all a blur and Victor wasn?t even sure if he was even awake or if this had just turned into a dream. There was blonde on metal. He saw dipping and kissing. He heard yelling and screaming. It was all so chaotic. Thoughts of how to calm down the ?therapeutic fight? (as that?s what Liam seemed to believe it was) started to race through his head. ?One at a time,? he said to himself.

The first thing would probably be to get the main leader off of the new girl. Nothing good could come from that. At about the same time Anole reached the scene, Graydon was pulling Skye off of Cessily. To help the cause, Victor helped Mercury to her feet but kept a firm enough grip so that if she tried to run at the blonde she would be able to. ?Hey,? he said loudly enough for her to hear him but soft enough to be reassuring. ?Calm down. We don?t need to beat the crap out of each other, Liam doesn?t know what he?s talking about.?

Victor looked up from the red-head and at Graydon, who was still holding Phantom. He nodded thinking that the two were both on the same side. It was kind of a way of telling him that Cessily wasn?t going anywhere but also that he had his back if either of the girls (or anyone else for that matter) tried to pull something tricky.

This was supposed to be fun. Apparently the scaly son of a bitch hadn't picked up on that one. What was the deal with these Americans anyway? You throw one punch, try to get a good fight going so they'd loosen their god-damn assholes for one minute, and all you get in return is more drama than classic Shakespeare. This was just ridiculous.

He had expected the slap across the face, and would have honestly been more surprised if Teresa hadn't done anything to retaliate at all. Knowing from their previous Danger Room experiences that the memory-Xerox-ing mutant required a bit of provocation before she entered a physical fray, he thought his flamboyant tactic would sufficiently entice her into their mini-battle, and probably spark more resistance from Eclipse, which was always fun. Liam's face still smarted remarkably from the third strike that had passed across that side of his face, and he couldn't help but grin at how classically-cliche' the entire situation was.

Swashbuckling rogue steals kiss from spoken-for damsel, receives substantial smack in the face, hilarity ensues.

Liam's eyebrows quirked once again though as he felt Teresa's hands grip his shoulders once again, and he smiled arrogantly as he looked into the fire in her eyes that had not been present before.

"Realized you want another snog, lo-" He smiled, but then felt the crippling collision of Teresa's oh-too solid knee to his crotch.

Oy.

?Don?t mess with me.?

Eyes bugging in blinding pain, he felt himself collapse to the ground as Teresa muttered her parting words, then turned to leave. Still in a fetal position, Liam reached into his back pocket and pulled out a cigarette, lighting it as he brought it to his lips, praying the rush of nicotine would soothe the mind-searing agony that had overrun his tender-bits. From his position on the ground, eyes squinting, he could make out the outline of the behemoth-moron who called himself "Gator." Judging by the way he was snarling at people and physically thrusting them out of the way, Liam had a feeling that the reptilian ass-pirate was gunning directly for him.

Come on...come get me, bitch.

Rolling his eyes in mild-annoyance, Liam grunted at the force with which Gator dragged him to his feet, still remarkably sore from the assault that Teresa had just dealt unto him. He couldn't really be mad at the girl, though. In all truth, he was more impressed than anything else. Didn't think she had it in her. Gator's putrid, snarling face just inches from his own, Liam took a long drag from his cigarette and blew all of the smoke into the flaring nostrils of the huge mutant.

"Do you have any idea who you're dealing with, mate?" Liam began, voice low, his characteristic sneer playing onto his face. He was 100% aware that Gator was bigger, stronger, and fully-capable of killing him, but he just didn't give a shit. "What the fuck makes you think you hold claim to taking ME on, you poof? Case you haven't noticed, I'm the baddest bloke around this place, and it kills you that everyone else sees it too. I started this fight to get people to lighten the fuck up, but it's punk-ass bitches like you who turn it into the most dramatic god-damned thing on the face of the planet. Piss off before I hurt you, Jamie."

?I?m going to teach you to keep your lips to yourself."

"Gonna teach me to keep me lips to myself, eh Gator?" Liam laughed as the other boy continued to growl and foam, like some damned rabid hairless squirrel. "I just don't think I can do that, boy-o..."

With that, Liam thrust himself forward, placing his hands on either side of Gator's massive face, and slammed his lips forcefully against the scaled mouth of the giant lizard, kissing him forcefully.

Don't fuck with the master, son.

Mercury's face jerked hard to one side as Phantom cracked her hard against the face. More than anything in the world, at that moment, Cessily wished she could just hide under a rock and not come out forever. Liam had used her, with his pet names and winks, and she'd been too stupid to listen to her friends when they told her that he was a bad person. She'd even protected him from Phantom's initial assault, and she knew she deserved the slap she got.

Phantom stood, releasing Cessily from her death grip, spitting in the grass in the process and looked down at the girl still lying on the ground. ?You weren?t even worth the effort.?

?What the hell are you doing girl?? Graydon yelled at Phantom, trying to pull the young woman?s weight off his peer. Even though she resisted, he continued to try and talk sense into her. ?You want to lose everything you?ve worked so hard for? We don?t need to beat the crap out of each other, Liam doesn?t know what he?s talking about.?

"I know I wasn't worth the effort," Cessily replied quietly, not bothering to defend herself from Phantom as Anole helped her up. The older girl was right after all, she was never worth any kind of effort at all really. No effort from her parents, and certainly no effort from anyone else except Vic, and he would never lover her in that boy-girl kind of way. "Graydon's right to be concerned for you and your status as team leader," she coninued in a soft tone, not expecting anyone to really hear her, even Skye and Graydon. "You have everything to lose. Power. Prestige. Position. Friends... I have nothing, and never will," she finished in a whisper, turning into her liquid form, slipping away from Anole, and fleeing towards the Mansion.

Reaching it's wall she easily scaled it in her liquid form before resuming her human form on the school's roof. Tears were streaking her face by now. "Why won't someone love me," she asked herself quietly, watching the other students tear themselves apart from a safe distance where no one else could get at her to attack.

Unlike most of the other students, Adam had taken his dinner upstairs to his new little cozy abode. His food had been shoveled into his mouth with one hand, the other nimbling gripping the spine of a book while managing to keep it open to the proper pages. It was one of the few books of Xavier's that he hadn't managed to find at home. Discontinued and pulled from bookstore shelves for being to 'radical' and having 'potentially anti-American views'. Really, potentially anti-American...it was a book about the Mutant Gene being dormant in all humans across the country. Hardly a reason to blow the 'terrorist whistle'.

He lifted the fork from his plate and winced as he chomped down on metal. 'Ergh...guess the pasta well is dry.' He thought to himself. Placing the book marker between the pages, he tossed the text onto his bed. Scooping up his plate and glass, he made his way out of his room, but as he reached the top of the stairs, he could hear a mish-mash of screams, yells, and one psychotic male laugh. And, of course, as anyone would assume from this stand point, it seemed as if the students were under attack by someone, or something.

With a doubled pace, Adam quickly made his way downstairs, glasses sliding down the bridge of his nose as he rushed. Breaking into the kitchen area, he managed to still place his dish and glass in the sink as he rushed by before breaking into the dining room. Maybe they were all just playing a game. But then....then he saw it. The carnage, the horror. FOOD...EVERYWHERE! Tomato sauce dripped off the chairs, red stains splattered every manner of clothing, chunks of meat slathered into people's hair. The horrors of war. A war of condiments. WHEN WOULD PEOPLE LEARN!?

Theatrics aside, Berman pushed his glasses up his nose. His stomach growling loudly to get his mind back to more important things. Second dinner. Making his way to the warzone of the dining room table, Adam picked up one of the few plates that didn't have a footprint on it. Flicking off a few stray pieces of diced carrots and mashed potatos, the red eyed teen picked through the corpses of dishes, saving any survivors. A cob of corn there, a scoop of creamed corn here, a pork chop that only had half a shoeprint on it (which was promptly cut off with a nearby steak knife), Adam packed his plate full before admiring the still delicious platter. "Reminds me of Thanksgiving back home..." He murmured as he looked at the brawl outside.

Walking to the nearest open door, the tanned mutant stepped outside, leaning against the wall of the institute. But just as he was raising the first spoon full of corn to his mouth, he could hear a soft, if somewhat metallic, inhale just above him. Tilting his head back, Adam caught sight of a girl, at least, what he assumed to be a girl, clinging to the side of the building. Infact, it was one of the two youngin's that had greeted him the morning he had arrived. "....hey. What's with the Spider-man routine, silver eyes?"

OOC: Successful manuver occurs with permission from Miasma.

James' eyes widened when Liam's lips touched his own in the kiss. 'That rotten, raping bastard,' was the primary thought that crossed James' mind. James had dealt with a few rapists before, in fact the Morlocks had banished him for killing one not so long ago. A man who would treat a woman as an object of sexual desire had no place at all in continued breathing in the reptilian's book.

"I'll kill you, you rotten raping bastard," James roared full in Liam's face his right arm jabbing forcefully out and his hand securing itself around the boy's throat. Almost effortlessly, the big reptilian lifted Liam from the ground with one hand, turning his body so as to avoid and potential groin unplesantness from an attempt by Liam to kick him, if one were made.

The truly scary thing was the reptilian was eerily serious as he lifted the slowly suffocating Liam off the ground. His eyes blazed with a more intense hatred than he had felt towards anyone in his entire life, including the man that he had slain in the subway. He snarled in a low, deadly tone at Liam. "You used Cessily. You sought to obtain carnal knowledge of Lani, Jubilee, Teresa, and who knows who else. Now, you will pay," he snarled, his fist tightening and his glare daring any student present to stop him.

As Teresa crossed the lawn to scold the boys that she was holding away from one another, Lani turned her head, caught the brunette's eye, and nodded to her. A small smile even tugged at the islander girl's lips when Will was pulled out from under her arm to be severely scolded by what Lani would call his One-and-Only.

Victory shone on the horison, as did a congrats from the adults in charge once they found out what happened. She felt as though she'd nipped what could have been much, much worse in the bud, and that her and Teresa both deserved praise for their accomplishment. Yet, her thoughts to a bright and shiney near future were interrupted by the odd accent of the boy that had started it all, as he moved to stand between her and Teresa, her tail still wrapped about his middle. His next move did nothing but shock her.

One moment she was standing tall and authorative, the next she was off-balance, supported by hands on her back and the reflexively tightened grip of her tail about the boy responsible for this sudden change of stance. Before she could protest, she found Liam's face on top of hers, his mouth mashed against hers in a kiss that could only be described as too fierce to be anything but a mockery. Stunned, she slid her tail away from him, and just stood light-headed as she was set up right, and observed silently as he did the same thing to Teresa.

Slowly, she reached up to wipe her mouth clean, and watched as the only other girl present that seemed to have their head lost it and assulted Liam. She supposed she could understand her violent reaction, she was already in love after all. Then, after a violent assult on his groin, she watched Liam be pulled up by Gator, of all people and be threatened. Yet, the boy was still smiling. She had to give him this much, the Aussie could take a beating like a soldier. Nothing seemed to bring him down.

Threats were exchanged, and then her eyes widened and her jaw dropped as Liam kissed James. The boy had just sealed his own death withAll logic had stopped, and this kissing fool just kissed himself into a homicide. Sure enough, Gator reacted non-too pleasantly, and physically lifted the boy off the ground by his neck. From what Lani could see, he was actually going to kill a student by crushing his windpipe. Reality, sanity, the world was crashing about Lani's ears, and it had to stop.

"WOULD YOU STOP IT?!"

Her voice echoed through the trees behind the mansion, resounding off all surfaces it could. Lani, probably the quietest and most well behaved and mild-mannered of all the girls in the entire school, had just bellowed at the top of her lungs. And boy, what lungs she had. A shout like that, everyone's ears were probably ringing.

Hoping that things would have paused from that, but regardless of whether they did or not, Lani stomped her heavy clawed feet to Gator and Liam, and placed her hands on Gator's arms. With a startlingly strong grip, she squeezed at a pair of pressure points, persuading his hands to open and his grip to weaken on the Australian boy. Immediately after the large boy's hold was loosened, Liam was pushed so that he stumbed a few steps backwards. Giving no time for reaction, Lani swiftly spun herself about and lifted her leg in what promised to be one hell of a kick, apparently aimed at Liam's head. With her feet, that could be deadly.

However, rather than actually striking Liam in the head or slashing him with her killer talons, Lani hit the open 'palm' of her grasping foot against his throat, and curving her foot about his neck, she twisted her body and brought her leg down, which, in turn, slammed Liam down to the ground on his back, where he was pinned by her foot about his neck, her talons dug into the dirt to secure him there.

That done in a matter of maybe three or four seconds tops, Lani turned her torso to face Gator, and gave him a look that said 'don't'. With that look delivered, she spoke up to the rest of the kids on the lawn.

"It stops here."

"You don't care anyway," Cessily replied, not bothering to even glance at the person with her tear stained eyes. He was a boy if his voice was any indicator. "Even if you were, by some miracle, interested in me you'd lose all attention when something prettier came along," she continued between sobs. "No one wants a freak like me around, specially not to l-l-love," she hiccuped. As she continued to speak she pulled her knees up and buried her face in her arms, sobbing louder, and making her next words unintelligable. Off in the distance the sound of James roaring that he would kill Liam, and Cessily somehow caught his accusation that Liam had used her, which was seemingly true. At least one other student cared enough to stick up for her, even if he was as similarly freaky as herself.

"I know I wasn't worth the effort,? Cessily said softly to Phantom even though the blonde was to far away to hear what the metal mutant was saying. ?Graydon's right to be concerned for you and your status as team leader. You have everything to lose. Power. Prestige. Position. Friends... I have nothing, and never will," she said finally before melting into a liquid form and sinking to the ground. Before Victor could react, the puddle of metal was crawling away towards the mansion.

?Totally forgot about that,? he said to himself more than anyone else. Now he just felt silly. In the heat of the moment, he had thought he could get things under control, but really thinks slipped from his mind, just like Cessily slipped from his arms. Anole turned quickly and called after the girl. ?Cess, wait!? he cried out. But she kept moving towards the building, away from everyone down below.

With a sigh, Victor turned back around and shook his head in disappointment. He figured that she just wanted some privacy for now, and being a privacy-lover himself, he let her have it. It was just sad when someone couldn?t feel accepted even in a place like Xavier?s. A place with so much diversity. That?s when he turned and saw Liam giving Gator a smooch on the lips. ?Looks like you were right,? Victor said to Graydon who was still with Skye.

The green teenager watched as Gator lifted Miasma off the ground by the throat. ?That was just a dumb idea,? Victor said under his breathe. ?You don?t just go around kissing people.?

Even as he finished speaking, Lani jumped at the two boys and separated them. ?It stops here,? she said with authority. That?s what the New Mutants needed, authority. As much he hated being told what to do every hour of the day, it was the only thing that worked for a group of teenagers with superpowers. The New Mutants needed a leader that would stand up and be an example.

Miasma

That was just too easy.

Liam actually laughed in the face of the maddened lizard-man, his eyebrow arching ever-higher with the accusations of him being some kind of "rotten raping bastard." Rotten bastard? No doubt. Rapist? No way in Hell. Body shaking with a combination of adrenaline and just plain amusement at how reactive Gator was being towards every little thing that he said. He kissed the guy. So what? Liam had a feeling that was all the guy really wanted...

That's all you really are, mate...you're just a big, dumb animal who's in need of a hug...awww.

Opening his mouth to respond, Liam found his breath arrested in his throat once more, though this time it wasn't from an outward force smashing into some vulnerable area on his person, but by a tremendous clawed hand gripping his throat tightly and lifting him off the ground. Though his face began to turn red, then slightly blue as the lack of oxygen began effecting his cranium, Liam still maintained a sardonic grin spread across his countenance, giving the appearance he was deriving more joy from this experience than one should ever have.

"You used Cessily. You sought to obtain carnal knowledge of Lani, Jubilee, Teresa, and who knows who else. Now, you will pay."

Carnal knowledge? I just wanted to see them naked. Weird.

Regretfully using his last breath to snort in amusement at the bizarrely proper admonishment that he had received from this big lounge lizard, Liam simply crossed his arms as his feet dangled loosely, defiantly not resisting to the threats that were issued to him by the reptile. Lifting his hand a bit to look at the cig that he still had placed between his fingers, he smirked even more as he thought how easy it would be to just touch the smoke to his arm, and completely escape the bonds of Gator's powers.

Oh, this could be such fun...

Grinning through bloodied teeth, Liam dropped his hand and prepared to touch the burning ember to his own flint-skin, but stumbled when he felt the clawed hands loosen and a strong force send him several feet backwards. He raised his hand to rub his throat where Gator's grip had undoubtedly bruised him, but before he knew it there was another taloned-grip on his esophagus, and this one slammed his back straight into the ground, knocking the wind out of him once again.

I was kind of hoping that someone ELSE would be getting their ass kicked by now...so much for that.

"It stops here."

From his position on the ground, Liam stared up at Lani and felt genuine anger course through him for the first time since they had started this little shindig. He REFUSED to let it end like this, with everyone hating everyone else even more than when he had started this whole thing. What the hell was the point of this whole thing if they were all going to be whiny bitches? Honestly?

"This won't end like this, girly," Liam gasped to Lani, as he jammed the still-light cigarette into his arm, feeling the flame spark his own flesh and sent a wave of excruciating pain throughout his body, random memories coursing through his mind, until the smoke of that first cigarette filled his mind, and smoke he had indeed become.

Seeing Lani's talons pass through his neck, Liam floated upwards behind her, a ghostly presence with his eyes glowing eerily. Characteristic smirk still present on his face as he passed through Lani's form, he appraised the still-snarling form of Gator, and smiled widely with enjoyment as he stared at the now-powerless lizard.

"Never. Ever. Fuck. With. Me. Mate."

Laughing maniacally, his voice sounding like an echo as it always did within his smoke-form, Liam's physical form was obliterated as he became a shapeless wisp of smoke, that expediently traveled towards Gator's head, slipping itself inside Gator's ear-hole that was on the side of his head. As it worked its way within, Liam began to sing as loudly and off tune as he possibly could, choosing the most obnoxious song that came to his mind, knowing Gator had no way to fight off the assault on his ear-drums. So on he sang...

"YOU CAN DANCE IF YOU WANT TO; YOU CAN LEAVE YOUR FRIENDS BEHIND..."

Gotcha, sucker.

Enzo didn't resist when Lani stepped between himself and Liam. Inside, he was more than relieved he hadn't gotten himself any deeper. This really was getting out of hand, and was more than a bit childish. Not to mention foolish, stupid, and exactly what Liam wanted. Unclenching his fists, his anger began to subside; it was replaced by the disgusting feeling of pudding in his shirt and banana in his hair. He almost jumped in once more after Liam planted a sloppy looking kiss on Lani and Theresa, but it seemed as if the two women could handle themselves.

Sure enough, one nasty looking slap and a painful kick to the jewels later, Liam was on the ground. Enzo wasn't sure whether he should laugh or grab his own crotch in sympathy. His decision making time was cut short as Gator lifted their Aussie compadre from the ground. It actually appeared that Gator was going to do some serious damage to the poor guy, and that isn't something Enzo was about to stand around and watch, despite James' chivalrous intentions. Lani stepped in however, to lay a truly jurassic smackdown on the both of them.

"Bhasta, James he's just being an ass to get everyone over themselves."

In what was certainly the strangest twist in the course of their little brawl, Liam burnt himself to "smoke it up" as he called it. After some truly threatening dialogue Liam's smoke form made its way into Gator's...ear? Enzo's eyes widened at the sight of the smokey cloud entering James' head. "What the hell does he have in mind..."

"YOU CAN DANCE IF YOU WANT TO; YOU CAN LEAVE YOUR FRIENDS BEHIND..."

Enzo wasn't really sure how to react to Liam's sick antics. So he did the only thing he could, laugh. The Italian teen laughed until he could barely take it anymore. Unable to stand, stomach hurting, and eyes tearing, he took a seat on the grass and scratched his pudding covered head.

"I'm the kinda guy that laughs at a funeral, can't understand what I mean, you soon will. I have the tendency to wear my mind on my sleeve..." he began to sing quietly as he stifled more laughter.

OOC: Making exit with Lani's character with her permission

James was shocked by this turn of events. Lani was actually standing up for and protecting this... this criminal? He couldn't believe it, it was as if he had suddenly deflated and become much smaller. Still, Lani was easily outnumbered by the other students who clearly still wanted a piece of Liam. She would hate him for what he was about to do, probably irreparably, but really the big reptiloid had no choice if he was going to protect Lani from injury, which was his single concern.

As the students began to close in, again, around Lani and Liam the smokey mutant touched his cigarette to his skin and poofed himself. Still, some of the others looked like they had it in for Lani, and James had to protect her. His big hands and arms circled around her waist and lifted her easily clear of the ground as Liam entered his ear and began to sing his little song, whatever the hell it was. It seemed reasonable to assume that few students would try and stop the reptilian James as he didn't appear to be entirely stable in his head at the moment.

Tossing Lani over his shoulder, the big mutant started to run and make a retreat from the group. Let them duke it out with each other, even him if they must, but so help him none would lay a finger on Lani if he could prevent it. As he barreled into the Mansion he spied something useful, a 35mm film canister. Picking it up in his free hand as he ran James heard the rattle of film and dumped it out on the ground.

Stopping for the briefest of instants he swept the cannister through the smoke training his head and succeeded in capturing just a bit of it. Grinning, he stoppered the film cannister and kept moving. He hit the elevator and took it down to the subbasement levels, leaving the cannister above in the main Mansion. If Miasma wanted to reform in one piece he'd make sure someone found the cannister and opened it, that was not James' concern. A few seconds later James emerged into the subbasement, Lani still tossed over his shoulder. Entering the unoccupied hospital area, James let Lani down and sank down to the floor, not speaking for a few moments.

As Skye finished administering what she could only think of as repayment, standing over Cessily, she was joined by Graydon and shocked by the words that followed.

?What the hell are you doing girl?? Graydon yelled at Phantom, trying to pull the young woman?s weight off his peer. Even though she resisted, he continued to try and talk sense into her. ?You want to lose everything you?ve worked so hard for? Professor Xavier and Mr. Summers won?t stand for this kind of behavior!?

The blonde looked down at Cessily once more and shook her head in response. "Look Gray, this doesn't have anything to do with you. She interfered when she shouldn't have and wholloped me across the face." Looking up straight into the Canadian's eye, she added, "And I don't take that from anyone."

Right away the threesome was joined by Victor, another student insulted by Liam's tirade, and only someone else to add to the growing list of people disappointed by Skye's actions. Didn't they understand that being a leader wasn't what she wanted when they left the Danger Room? That she was just a regular student when they weren't out on a mission? No, apparently not and her standing in their eyes was going to pay for it.

"I know I wasn't worth the effort," Cessily replied quietly, not bothering to defend herself from Phantom as Anole helped her up.

Skye sighed at the turn of events and patted Gray on the shoulder, softening the steely look that had taken over her features since her entrance onto the lawn. Someone always had to turn it into a pity party. "It's over and done with. We all needed to release a bit of tension and although I didn't get to beat the person I really wanted to, I feel... not better exactly, but lighter."

The blonde looked around the lawn, noticing that James and Lani appeared to be MIA, as was Liam though there was unnatural amount of smoke around and Enzo was... laughing? What the hell was the nutter laughing at? Raising one eyebrow in confusion, Skye nodded at Gray to follow and made her way to the hysterical Italian. "Oy, what's so funny?"

((you guys sure post fast! I think I'm in the wrong time zone for keeping up with you guys! While I'm alseep I miss more than a page of posting! lol))

Jubilee tried not to laugh as Liam planted a smacker on Lani and then Teresa. He was such an ass, but quite entertaining. But then as there got to be a bit more violence among her team mates Jubilee's will to laugh dried up. This was getting too serious. When James grabbed Liam around the throat Jubilee moved towards the group, a punch up was one thing, but calling someone a rapist and trying to squeeze the life out of them was quite a different story.

But before she could get there Lani had intervened, and then Liam was gone in, quite literally, a puff of smoke. Jubilee's eyes followed the trail of smoke, then she smiled again as Liam started singing. How could he be staying so easy when everyone else was so strung up? That was a skill in itself. As James picked up Lani and headed away Jubilee followed, running not quite as quickly, but she was close enough to see what James did with Liam and the film cannister. Jubilee swore to herself, this was beyond a joke now. Who knew what bit of Liam could be stuck inside that cannister, and he didn't have all that long before he had to change back.

Jubilee ignored everything else that was going on, the students still talking about what had happened and carried on following James, someone had to open that cannister or Liam could be in big trouble. She sighed slightly to herself, why should she cared if that guy lost a hand or something? Because he was one of their team, and no one deserved having that done to them, it had just been a joke for God's sake.

By the time she to into the mansion James had disappeared with Lani and Jubilee had no idea where they'd gone, and where the part of Liam had gone either.

"Liam!" she yelled, not sure if he would have noticed a part of him missing or not, but she was going to need his help to find it, and he was going to need someone to open it. "Can you show me where it is?" she asked, half to herself and half to Liam if he'd shown up yet, as she looked around to see if James had left the cannister anywhere up here.

Adam nearly choked on a mouthful of corn as the sentence "Even if you were, by some miracle, interested in me you'd lose all attention when something prettier came along" escaped the young girl's mouth. "Wait, wait, wait....what?" He stuttered, coughing for a moment before forcing the food down the right pipe. "Look, you've got a few problems with this attitude. First, any guy that ditches you for someone 'better looking' isn't worth your worry, since they'll just ditch THAT girl when one even better looking comes along later." He spoke firmly, quickly taking on a tone of some radio talk show host giving advice. Pulling a Dr. Phil, as it were. "Secondly, there's nothing wrong with you. I mean, there are girls out there with hair growing out of their faces, spikes coming out of every nook and crany and some are even more ripped then most men. And the first and last problems don't even have to be due to a mutation! Some 'normal' people have those issues too, and they're still plenty happy."

Pushing off from the wall of the institute, the mutant placed his fork back into the mish-mash of food, ignoring the struggle going on behind him between the numerous mutants. "And while I'm not....interested...it has nothing to do with your apperance. The fact of the matter is, I'm...what? Five years older then you? You're a beautiful girl, don't get me wrong. If I was four years younger..." He trailed off, leaving the entire idea to the imagination, and went back to the dinner he had worked so hard to scavenge. "Are you just going to pout up there all night, or are you going to help settle down your big, scaley friend from his little tantrum?"

Ironic as it was, Adam sort of enjoyed calling someone else big and scaley for once. Walking away from the wall to leave the younger mutant with her thoughts, he moved towards the central area of the conflict, calmly taking bites out of his cob of corn, even when the lizardman lumbered back and forth around him. When you were a giant man-dino half your life, not much surprises you, especially as far as lizards are concerned.

The Canadian was taken back when the scaly mutant known as Anole appeared. For a slight moment, a sliver of rage filled his heart. Liam?s earlier words of being secretly in love with Bosh, and how Victor would feel rattled through his head and he began to wonder why the smoke mutant would say such a thing? Had his friendship with the gay mutant labeled him something he didn?t care to be called?

Had Victor been saying things he shouldn?t to others?

He shook his head to remove those thoughts, not even paying attention to Cessily fleeing the scene and Skye pulling herself free from his grasp. She passed by him and even though her beautiful face was already beginning to inflame with crimson shades from the assault she had received, the Brit let a small smile fade out. "It's over and done with. We all needed to release a bit of tension and although I didn't get to beat the person I really wanted to, I feel... not better exactly, but lighter."

The three than noticed another field leader, Enzo, struggling in a mysterious cloud of darkened smoke. The mutant known as Phantom made a run toward the event, and motioned for Graydon to follow suit. The boy paused before allowing his feet to move, and looked at his ever-green friend. ?What are you telling people Vic?? he questioned, but turned before getting an answer.

By the time Graydon reached the side of Skye, the young man with the power to generate force fields as already almost bent over in laughter. ?Eh, what the heck is so funny Enzo?? he asked, not realizing the female beside him had spoken the same thing moments ago. He waited patiently for a response, but the only thing that rang through his mind was, where are the teachers?

Mia made her way into the kitchen from the dining hall, brushing bits of food off of her pants as she went. Less than five minutes ago she had been sitting quietly at lunch, listening to the rapid-fire conversations going on around her, minding her own business. And then Liam had to, once again, try to see how long it would take before every single student in the school attempted to kill him. Mia had only sighed quietly when the Australian jumped on the table and planted his foot squarely on her plate, splattering food into her lap, and only offered him her characteristic disinterested stare when he ran across each of the dining tables and out the front door of the mansion, followed closely by an angry horde of students. She had been one of only a handful of students who actually hadn't run out of the building to either watch or participate in the fight, and most of those remaining had already left. With no real reason to stay in the room, she decided to head for the kitchen in search of a bottle of water.

Even from where she was inside, she could still hear the shouts coming from outdoors. Whatever was happening seemed to be getting heated; why these people let so much get to them so easily, Mia couldn't figure out. It wasn't as if she really cared about anything, after all.

After rummaging through the refrigerator, she straightened, water bottle in hand, at the sound of the front door slamming shut. Her electric blue eyes peered through the doorway in time to see Teresa, obviously annoyed, walk up the stairs towards the dormitories. She was followed into the house only moments later by James... carrying Lani? And if she wasn't mistaken, there was a certain distinguishable Aussie accent screaming "Safety Dance" at the top of his lungs... but he was nowhere to be seen. Mia watched curiously from her half-hidden post in the doorway as James stopped to pick up a small black object, stuck it in his ear, and then threw it in a potted plant before stepping onto the elevator. Though her face expressed indifference, inwardly Mia was confused, curious, and mildly entertained. Whatever was happening outside was obviously not ending well.

Mia made her way over to the plant, water bottle in tow, to pick up the object that the mutant known as Gator had left behind. Inspecting the small container, she decided that it seemed to be for holding camera film, but... What the heck? she thought to herself. Bringing the canister up to her face, she confirmed what she thought couldn't be possible. There, coming from inside the box, was a more muted (but still distinguishable) Australian accent still belting out the same "Safety Dance" she had heard before. Before she had a chance to think much about it, yet another student (this time Jubilee) came running through the mansion.

"Liam! Can you show me where it is?"

Walking towards the girl, Mia broke her usual silence for one of the first times since she had arrived at the mansion. "Tell me this isn't what I think it is..."

ECLIPSE

What the hell's crawled up Gator's ass? I'M supposed to be the tight-wad around here...stealing my thunder...

Will grinned to himself as he saw Liam's face recoil from the solid punch that he had landed on his jaw, and shared a brief smile with the boy when their eyes met, before the Aussie was lifted completely off of his feet by a remarkably blow from Enzo. Maybe the kid had the right idea after all; it seemed like he, Skye, and Enzo were all really enjoying themselves. If anything, he was probably one of those who was least surprised by Skye's behavior, as he had nursed a sore skull for half a week once after a severe slapping from the team leader. Sure, he had put salt in between her sheets when she and Teresa were out shopping one afternoon, but he sure wasn't expecting the beatdown he received after that event.

Being the audience to the event of Skye wailing on Cessily, however, was just far too entertaining NOT to laugh at.

Chuckling, he turned his attention back to the beatdown that Enzo was surely about to deliver to Liam, only to find himself forcibly turned around by Teresa, who was fuming about all of their immature antics.

"Ruh Roh..." Will muttered, doing his best Scoody-Doo impersonation, and quirked his eyebrow as Liam performed his little romantic-interlude with Lani and his girlfriend. Not cool. But as he readied himself to go and start punching out the little bastard, he found himself clutching his sides with laughter as Teresa smacked the piss out of him, and then sterilized him for the next few months.

That's my girl.

Laughing as Teresa marched back into the house, obviously annoyed but still very pleased with herself, Will found his laughter subsiding as the melodramatic Gator gripped his shirt and pushed him to the side, mumbling some characteristic too-serious nonsense about "this fight being his own."

Douche.

Dusting himself off as he steadied himself, aggravated from the unnecessary actions taken by Gator, Will crossed his arms and stared as Gator started threatening serious physical violence against the obnoxious Aussie, watching from the corner of his eye as some of the younger students began to admonish Skye for railing Mercury in the head for smacking her in the first place. What the hell? Since when did all the newbies turn retarded? Shouldn't they be yelling at GATOR for trying to kill someone? AND DID LIAM JUST KISS GATOR? Uhhhh...

Mouth agape with stunned shocked, he continued to ponder what exactly had happened to make everyone so incredibly straight-laced as of late. Once Lani had entered the situation, he howled with joy as Liam set himself on fire and began belting out a classic "Men Without Hats" anthem at the top of his lungs; a screaming cloud hovering around Gator's head, causing him and Enzo to double over with laughter.

This kid ain't bad...

As Gator, Lani, and the smoke cloud that was Liam made their way inside, Teresa alread in there, Will scanned the yard with his adrenaline still pumping, searching for who might still be up for a good time. Spotting the small crowd of Skye, Graydon, Victor, and Enzo only a few yards away from him, Will grinned broadly before launching himself towards them, extremities spread wide.

"DOGPILE!" He shouted as he collided with all of them, sending them piling on top of the already sitting Enzo, and laying himself out flat on top of them all. This was far more fun than he thought it was going to be...he just hoped that the massive Gator didn't come back out and decide to top their little mound of mutants.

MIASMA

"WE CAN DANCE; WE CAN DANCE; EVERYBODY LOOK AT YOUR HANDS. WE CAN DANCE; WE CAN DANCE..."

If Liam could have been smirking as a dissipated smoke cloud, he would have been. With eyes that couldn't be seen, he peered across the yard to see Enzo doubling over in laughter, and smiled broadly as he realized that his mission had been accomplished with at least one individual who had been involved. Though he wanted to go over and join in on the laughter and comraderie that was sure to ensue, Liam couldn't help but follow along with Gator's head as he hoisted Lani onto his shoulder...

Who's the rotten raping bastard now, mate? He thought idly to himself. Wanker.

Following the lizard-couple with his voice increasing in volume and pitch, squeaking as he belted the words to the classic-80's tune, passing a weeping Mercury (nothing new there), his voice still continued even as Gator trapped his smoke-voice box within a film-canister and tossed it away from him. For a guy that was supposed to be somewhat inept (according to what he had heard from several of the students at the mansion), he certainly did have a lot of specific knowledge about how to stop Liam in his smoke form...but he chose to ignore that for now.

You really are a cheap bugger, boy-o.

Though this manuever did bring the smoke cloud away from Gator's ears as the large reptile entered the elevator, slowly wafting towards the location where the canister had been tossed, Liam still continued to sing loudly, though he could hear his own voice muffled by the dark plastic that now enclosed his vocals.

"S-s-s-s A-a-a-a F-f-f-f E-e-e-e T-t-t-t Y-y-y-y SAFETY-ty-ty-ty-ty DANCE-ance-ance-ance-ance-ance..."

"Liam! Can you show me where it is?"

"Tell me this isn't what I think it is..."

Liam grinned internally as the stoic-Mia lifted his prison out of the house-plant that it had landed in, and glanced over in time to see Jubilee rush in and try to help him out. Aww, they DID care.

"OY!" He shouted, though his voice was muffled by the cheap plastic than contained him. "Just pop the lid so I can get out of here and sing for you lot some more...I think my angelic singing voice made Gator a little jealous..."

Feeling himself pour out of the now-open container, he formed all of his particles into the version of himself that his particles immediately recalled, and reformed his flesh and clothing, concentrating more than usual to make sure that he hadn't lost any major part of him. Though he was less-bruised now than when he had first "smoked it up" a few minutes before, his bones still ached with a pain that he knew he was going to retain for quite some time.

SO worth it.

"Thanks, kiddies," Liam grinned broadly, showing the first truly-genuine smile that he had shown that day, without a hint of a sneer. Quickly, he wrapped an arm around their shoulders and drew them in for a quick hug, then turning to lead them back out onto the lawn where the others were waiting. "Let's go see how all this turned out, shall we?"

Best idea I've ever had...

Jubilee almost sighed with relief as Mia held up the little cannister. She couldn't be dealing with people losing limbs or dying right now. But the things didn't quite go as she planned. Jubilee had wanted to get her mitts on that thing, then try and talk some sense into Liam, but before she could ask Mia to give it to her, Mia had already popped the lid and Liam was re-emerging as he normal obnoxious whole self.

Jubilee rolled her eyes, expecting one of the usual snide comments, or a joke about the girls loving him, so Liams genuine smile surprised her a little, but she didn't show it. But him pulling her into a hug was still just a little too far. Jubilee couldn't forget all the ruckus Liam had just caused outside and how many people he might have hurt by his comments. Jubilee pulled back from him, "I didn't come looking for you for your good," she snapped at him, "I came in here so you wouldn't die or lose something important like your head or something, cos then all of us, and especially Gator would be up t'our necks in it." she said angrily.

Ever since Liam had arrived all he'd done was annoy people, and try to get on their nerves, and Jubilee thought she'd done pretty well at not blowing up at him, but now she was done. She brought back her fist and aimed a punch right at Liam's perfectly formed nose, putting the last few weeks annoyance and stress into that one blow. She then turned away and stormed back outside, not even checking to see how much damage her punch had done, muttering, "maybe he was right, that did make me feel better."

Once outside she paused on the steps, watching Will pile on top of a load of other students, Enzo seemed to be on the bottom laughing hysetically about something. Well at least it seemed to be more good natured now. Jubilee folded her arms as she walked down the steps onto the lawn, watching what was going on. Then she sat down on the grass with a jolt, suddenly feeling drained. At least no one was trying to kill anyone any more, and maybe now there would be some peace, but with Liam around, could there be? Might he actually stop trying to piss everyone off now?

Mercury listened to what the boy had to say, between her sobs. No one seemed to love, or even like, her any more. Not her parents. Not any boys. Not really any of the other students, except Paige and Vic. This older boy, he was just like the rest. Growling, her tears momentarily replaced by anger, she turned her hand into a prying tool and got a roof shingle up into her hands.

"I'm not a child and it's not a tantrum," she yelled at his retreating back, her voice choked a little because she'd been crying. She flung the shingle at Adam, hoping that it would hit him right in the back of the head and knock him out cold, but knowing it would probably miss. She could hit things just fine, since she could turn her arm into a baseball bat, but when it came to throwing... Well, Cessily threw like a girl, so there was no cause to suspect she'd actually hit Adam with her missile. She resumed her previous pose, knees tucked up and continued with sob softly. The world really was a cruel place to her.

Lani had been looking at the rest of the gathered students, confidence swelling in her chest when the new boy with the spiked crest substituting for hair moved to stand near her, showing his support in the way he looked first at her, then the rest of the students. Everyone had seemed like they were settling down, but then Liam opened his mouth.

"This won't end like this, girly."

Lifting her eyebrows in surprise, the Hawaiian looked down to the boy that she pinned to the ground by the throat, then made a startled empathetic noise when his skin burst into momentary flame. She'd seen the expression of pain on his face, and even though he'd brought it upon himself by pressing the cigarette to his skin, knowing fully that it would hurt like hell, she couldn't help but to feel a heart-jumping twinge of sympathy.

But, that was just for a second. The flames disappeared, and Liam's body dissipated into smoke. Her foot flattened against the ground, with no solid throat there left to support her arch, and she just stared with her brows knitted in puzzlement as Liam's body spanned out into a cloud, and as he... entered James's ear?

She opened her mouth to try and speak, not sure how to react to that action, but out of nowhere the world went crazy again. The sky flipped out of view, and peoples' clothes, the grass, and the mansion whizzed through her field of vision in a blurr of etchy colors and shapes. When things went still again, she found that Gator's shoulder was in her belly, and she was a foot or so higher off the ground than what she ought to be. She'd only barely had enough time to figure out that Gator had picked her up over his shoulder before he started running toward the mansion. With his shoulder bouncing uncomfortably into her solar plexus, Lani pushed her hands into his back to lift her body up, making things a little more comfortable for her, and turned her head to look at the smoke that followed along after Gator's head.

"Boy, you are--.." Lani found herself cut off when Gator jerked suddenly, pushing the rest of her wind out of her lungs with his shoulder once more when he moved to quickly entrap some of Liam's smoke in a canister, then drop that on the ground as he entered the mansion. Lani didn't understand the boy's powers, but she did understand the significance of what Gator just did by the reaction of other students that witnessed this particular maneuver. Not much else could be seen from that point, however, for Gator had carried her out of view of anyone else.

Silent, stoic, the islander allowed James to carry her all the way to the subbasement, not resisting even as he set her down in the uninhabited hospital ward. She just stood, hands at her hips, watching the reptilian man sitting on the floor, her tail swaying this way and that behind her in slow patterns in a way that she hoped would portray patience.

James sat on the ground in the deserted medical wing, his knees drawn up and his arms wrapped around them staring into nothing. He'd almost killed Liam, he really would have killed the Aussie if Lani hadn't stopped him. His back was against the wall of the infirmary and he could see Lani's posture out of the corner of his eye. She didn't look happy, not one little bit.

James sighed inwardly. He knew he'd given the impression in the past that he liked Skye, and he had. But, that was before he'd met Lani in Hawaii when Roberto had taken him along to retrieve her from Molokai. But, his little escapade had probably just ruined any chance he'd ever hoped to have with her. Sighing, outwardly this time he said the only thing that came to mind. "I'm sorry," he said in little more than a whisper expecting her to explode at him. Even she didn't know why he had such a problem with people that treated women like Liam did all the time. He was pretty sure she'd just yell at him and then go off to leave James to his own thoughts on how he'd screwed up.

Lani was frowning a little, but for what reason it was hard to tell. Easy to assume, sure, but which emotion the expression was caused by was almost impossible to discern. She watched as James situated himself against a wall and curled up, apparently trying to make himself smaller and perhaps shield himself from some form of attack, be it verbal, physical, or perhaps even both.

Sighing inwardly, not letting James hear the noise of exasperation, Lani moved her hands off her hips and folded her arms across her stomach instead.

"You already know that you were out of line, perhaps even more than Liam himself in starting the whole thing. You already know that you almost killed the boy. You don't need to hear it from me. ...Though, I must say, I am curious. Why are we down here?"

No, she hadn't exploded at him. It wasn't in her character, and it was surprising that he was even expecting it. If she hadn't torn into the Australian hoodlum for kissing her without her consent, then she obviously had enough patience and self restraint to keep from hollaring at someone because they got a little out of control. Gator was her friend, she didn't want to or plan to attack him.

As Skye knelt attempting to extract the reason for Enzo's descent into hilarious stupidity, the blonde heard the sound of footsteps running towards the small group of students. The mutant teen thought that perhaps it was one of the teachers coming outside to break up their little fight. Turning her head to look behind her, the Brit was surprised to see Will and only had time to think Oh shit before he yelled "DOGPILE!!!" and launched himself on top of them all, squishing poor Enzo into the ground.

The air rushed out of her as the full weight of the three boys hit her and an "oomphf" escaped the Brit's lips. It felt like there was a lorry sitting on top of her back, with about three tons of concrete in it. God I didn't know they weighed this much! I've got to get them to start working out more. If her own discomfort was anything to go by, one Enzo Sarcone must have felt about three times worse with four people lying squarely on his chest. Will, Victor, Graydon and then Skye. Together, they made a formidable mass.

Being the one closest to the Italian when Will jumped at them like a lunatic, Skye fell on top of him, her face only an inch from his. I hope my breath's not bad, the London native thought as she began to laugh. Directly on top of the blonde lay Graydon and Skye simply couldn't resist saying, "I have never felt so close to you guys as I do right now." Her voice wasn't quite as loud as normal having only regained the function of her lungs seconds before but still, Skye hoped that Will would be able to hear what she said next. "By the way mate, you're a dead man."

His plan had worked out perfectly, in his eyes. Liam had incited a riot amongst all of his peers for the sole reason that he wanted them all to get along better at the end of it all. Sure, he might have subscribed to the "Fight Club" philosophy a bit too much, but it was all turning out well in the end. He got to sing Men Without Hats, he kissed an alligator, got trapped in a film canister, and now was moving back outside with his arms draped across two pretty girls.

All is right in the world...

"I didn't come looking for you for your good; I came in here so you wouldn't die or lose something important like your head or something, cos then all of us, and especially Gator would be up t'our necks in it."

"Oh, come on, love," Liam grinned, deriving far too much amusement from the plucky-Jubilee showing her 'concerned-motherly'-side. "We both know you came in here to find me because you care oh-so deeply ab-OW!"

Liam winced and clasped his nose at the crushing-blow, then recoiled his hands quickly as his own grip sent waves of pain through his cranium, his nose obviously broken. All of that smirking and winking must have screwed up his vision somehow, because he sure hadn't seen that fist coming straight towards his face.

"Don't think I deserved that..." Liam mumbled as blood began running into his mouth for the umpteenth-time today. "Well, I might've, but still...what do you think, Mia?" he turned to the often-quiet jellyfish-girl who had arrived on the same day that he had, albeit a bit more gracefully than his chosen method of entry. "Would you care to have a go at me face, too? Seems to be the activity of choice today..."

He grinned once again, but was met with yet another wince as the pain still radiated outwards from his marred-nostrils. Christ, that girl could land a punch.

Regardless of the pain (he knew that he could try and reset the cartilage if he smoked it up later), Liam still turned to Mia as Jubilee walked out front to join the others. Though they were the same age and height, and had arrived at the same time, the two really didn't know each other all that well, and Liam was undeniably curious about the girl.

"So," he began, blood running down his mouth a little bit as he spoke, though he still attempted to remain nonchalant, even if his voice had taken on an even-more nasal quality. "Pania, right? You the goddess, or just like the name? I was thinking Apollo for myself, but people said it'd be a bit too cocky, eh? I think it fits, though."

He tried his best to remain charming, though he started to sway a bit on his feet, as more of his blood began to run down his front, staining his shirt.

"Care to give me a hand, love? Things are starting to get a bit swirly around here..."

?What are you telling people Vic?? Graydon asked. But before Victor could question him, the Canadian turned to Skye once again. Normally Victor could let things roll off, but when his close friend, just about the best friend he had at the moment, was mad at him there had to be some conversation. Victor filled the gap of a couple yards between himself and the other three students. He grabbed Graydon?s shoulder, ready to spin him around when something hit him from behind.

?Dogpile!? Before he could react, Victor fell into Graydon who then fell over unto Skye who collapsed on top of Enzo. It was an uncomfortable position to be in sure. Victor was laying across his best friend?s back. Above him, Victor could hear Will laughing. Seeing as though there was no better way to keep the whole upcoming argument quiet, the green mutant leaned his head down so his lips were level with Graydon?s ears. ?I have no idea what you?re talking about,? he whispered. Okay, so maybe it wasn?t the best time to talk about it. He couldn?t imagine how Victor felt, having your gay friend laying on top of you and then whispering into your ear.

The tanned boy could hear yelling over his shoulder, but just brushed it off as the dying hollars of the girl's fit. She'd calm down, like most girls her age, she just seemed to need to get out a good scream or two. There was a muffled cry for a moment more, and then a loud 'thud' several feet behind and to the left of him. Looking back over his shoulder, the tanned mutant saw a piece of roofing shingle embedded firmly in the grass, standing upright and at attention. 'Ok...that's a bit much for a tantrum, but at least she didn't actually hit someone.' Taking another chomp out of the cob, Adam walked off. It wasn't his responsibility to help the girl with her issues, he was no therapist. Hell, his dog had a fit of depression for three years one time.

There wasn't much else to say, everyone dissipearing this way and that. Running back into the mansion, thuds and talking muffled by the walls. Berman really didn't care at the moment, he got his food, and all this drama seemed to be personal issues between many students, although he figured it would have settled itself easier without the obnoxious forgien boy trying to play Stress Relief by turning students into each other's punching bags. As far as he coud tell, that kid was nothing but an A class pain in the ass, and he just hoped the two of them would never be in an isolated room together. He made his way into the kitchen, and scraped his plate clean before manuvering back into the yard. He needed a quick stretch of his legs before bed.

With a few more strides, Adam crouched low, and in a blink, he shifted to the massive lizard like form he usually reserved for combat. With the thrust of one of the world's most powerful pair of legs, he took to the air, flying up towards the roof of the school. In mid descent, he transformed back to his normal state, landing with a relatively soft thump on the roof. With a few quick steps, he made his way to the open window that lead to the upper wing's hallway, and slipped inside.

As soon as she popped the lid of the film canister, Mia knew she had probably made a mistake. As the now-whole smoky apparition reformed in front of them, she began to second guess whether freeing the cause of all the trouble outside was actually a good idea. Glancing about, her suspicions were confirmed: Jubilee was left looking very angry, Liam was looking rather smug, and Mia? well, Mia didn?t really seem to mind one way or the other. It wasn?t as if she were involved in whatever was happening outside, and she really didn?t plan to be. Nobody around the mansion ever really incited what could be considered rage in Mia; nothing did, after all. Besides the fact that she?d probably severely hurt someone with her hair if she even attempted to involve herself, it was still summer. The sun was even more unforgiving on her bluish-silver skin than most of the other students seemed to be towards each other at the moment.

"I didn't come looking for you for your good; I came in here so you wouldn't die or lose something important like your head or something, cos then all of us, and especially Gator would be up t'our necks in it."

"Oh, come on, love," Liam grinned. "We both know you came in here to find me because you care oh-so deeply ab-OW!"

Mia blinked in surprise as Jubilee railed Liam across the face. She was obviously fed-up with his comments, just like everyone else seemed to be. Inwardly, she wondered whether he had done anything in particular today to cause the violence; Jubilee normally put up with Liam?s antics, but apparently this was one comment too many. As the other girl stalked out of the foyer, Mia turned to Liam. Though blood was pouring freely from his nose (remind me never to piss her off, she thought), he was still grinning madly. Mia couldn?t help but wonder why he seemed to be enjoying it all so much; he looked ridiculous and was obviously not in great shape, but the smile on his face made it obvious that he was having the time of his life. I don?t get it, she thought to herself, her countenance expressionless as she looked at him.

"Don't think I deserved that..." Liam mumbled. "Well, I might've, but still...what do you think, Mia? Would you care to have a go at me face, too? Seems to be the activity of choice today..." Raising her eyebrows in response (why would I want to hit you?), she stood awkwardly to his side, waiting to see what would happen. He seemed to be a little unbalanced after the punch, and she suppressed the slight urge to ask him how many times he?d been hit in the face in the past ten minutes, instead using the silence to take a sip from her water bottle. "So," he began, "Pania, right? You the goddess, or just like the name? I was thinking Apollo for myself, but people said it'd be a bit too cocky, eh? I think it fits, though." Before she had a chance to so much as ponder how he could possibly know the origin of her codename, Mia found herself having to quickly support Liam against her body as he threatened to go weak at the knees. "Care to give me a hand, love? Things are starting to get a bit swirly around here..." Crouching a bit, Mia silently wrapped her left arm around Liam?s waist as she tried to put his right arm around her shoulders. Luckily, she had put her hair up in a bun earlier that morning, so there was little chance of Liam getting stung; however, they?d have to be careful, just in case.

Allowing him to lean into her a bit (whoa, he?s heavier than I thought?), Mia glanced around helplessly for signs of another student or teacher or something; if Liam passed out, chances were they?d both end up falling over. Her face as blank as a statue, she tightened her grip on his waist as she asked softly, ?Are you okay?? Feeling his weight shift even more into her side was not the reassuring response she had hoped for. ?You need to go to the med lab.? Resolutely, she began to make her way slowly to the elevator, Liam at her side.

Mia gave silent thanks when the elevator finally stopped in the subbasement. The added weight of Liam was getting to be overwhelming, and she herself was beginning to feel weak in the knees from the strain of having to ?carry? him so far. Finally reaching the medical wing, Mia felt a quick rush of relief to see it occupied by both Lani and James; at least she would have some help now, assuming they both weren?t injured as well. Her mind touched briefly on the sight of James carrying Lani only a few minutes beforehand? maybe Lani had gotten hurt also? But both of them look kind of pissed? Not really caring about the situation she was possibly invading, Mia spoke, her face and voice impassive except for the slight panting behind her words from the exertion of the trip downstairs. ?Can either of you give me a hand here??

Blood tastes wonky...and vaguely of corn...?

Liam didn't even register the red-eyed boy who had slammed a tray into his chest, though his tongue did register the small bits of spare food that had flicked into his mouth, which he was now having to keep constantly open due to his inability to breathe through his perfect nose. Well, not exactly perfect at the moment, but his nose had been broken before, much worse than this, and he'd still kept his undeniable good looks. And, thankfully, he didn't look like Owen Wilson.

Eyes swirling as much as they would be if he were in his smoke-form, Liam grinned into Mia's unfeeling eyes. Of all the physically-mutated people at the mansion, he had always thought that she had the best luck in terms of how she had turned out. While most people had come off looking slightly freakish, Mia had always possessed a sort of grace that had made her seem more ethereal than anything. And now, as Liam's focus went in and out in waves, he could catch glimpses of her skin glimmering on her delicate features.

?Are you okay??

"Oh yeah," Liam smiled, voice cracking slightly from his throat becoming dry. "Quite allright...might need a bandage...maybe a smoke...who knows? Got any smoke-bandages? Hehe..."

?You need to go to the med lab.?

"The med-lab? Yes, the med-lab! Let's GO to the med-lab!" Liam was grinning lazily as he was led away by Mia, resting nearly all of his weight on her. The cognizant part of his mind was impressed by how well she was able to manage his weight, even holding him up through the short ride in the elevator and heaving him along to the med-lab. As they approached, Liam rested his head on Mia's shoulder and closed his eyes, squeezing her shoulder softly, like they were old friends. "You're so NICE...hehe..."

Grinning like an imp, he tried his hardest to gain control of his own feet as they walked through the sliding doors of the medlab, only to find a very emotional-looking Lani and James...two people who had both had their scaly-talons wrapped around his throat only a few minutes before. In any other scenario, Liam might have put up his guard to ready himself for another assault from the reptiles (at least Gator), but the rapid blood-loss he was experiencing made it hard enough to hold up just his own head, let alone his fists.

?Can either of you give me a hand here??

"Hey guys!" Liam smiled, his head rolling forward, cocked on it's side so he could see all three of them. "Mia, you know Gator and...um...Gator-ette...gatorade...hehe...ANYWAY! Yeah, Gator GATOR...look at my nose...it's busted up, mate...you couldn't even do that, boy-o. JUB-i-LEE did it! Aaaaand Mia saaaaaaved me!"

With that, Liam's legs collapsed beneath him, dropping him to his knees and possibly dragging Mia with him. Eyes rolling and body drained, he put his hands on the floor, a steady trickle of blood forming a small puddle on the floor. As they silently smacked the cold metallic tile, Liam began to wonder if the lightness in his body meant that he had turned to smoke again.

All the while her classmates were acting like crazed savages, Nicole was completely unaware of their activities. Unlike most of the student body, the blue eyed mutant wasn't in the kitchen having lunch when the commotion began but rather in her room, drawing. With the window in her room facing the lake, Nicole had a perfect view of the outside of the mansion and decided to take the opportunity to sketch. She sat on her bed quietly, all the sounds of the mansion fading as the drawing on her sketch pad took shape.

After a little while Nicole decided that that was enough for one day, her eyes were beginning to tire. Taking one last look at the lake and its surrounding area on her pad, the slender girl set her pad down onto her bed and stood, stretching out her arms. Nicole was reminded by her stomach that she had missed lunch with a grumble and the young girl left her room, skipping down the hallway as she went. Had either Nate or Sy been around, Nikki wouldn't have dared but their rooms weren't near hers so she was safe for the moment. Though they were nice enough boys, it had taken quite a bit of effort to convince them that she wasn't the enemy, but rather a kindred spirit in mischief. She and the two boys were enough of a handful to warrant a babysitter a piece when they were out, quite the accomplishment in the girl's eyes. Smiling to herself at the memory of a recent prank, Nicole proceeded towards the kitchen.

When she reached her destination, Nikki was surprised to see the normally clean room (a feat all in itself with a house full of teenagers) with food splattered all over the floor and even on the walls. On top of the mess, there was the fact that the kitchen was empty, a rarety all by itself. There was always someone here looking for something to eat. That reminds me. Where is everybody? Though she hadn't noticed until that moment, the house was unusually quiet, no sounds of conversation or laughter, no pounding footsteps... it was unnatural. In the time since she'd arrived at the mansion, Nicole had gotten used to the sounds of commotion in a house with so many people and the noise had turned into a comfort for her. With a confused look on her face, the young mutant left the kitchen, going on a search for her teammates.

As Nicole walked down the hallway, she heard voices coming from outside and turned the corner only to find the front doors open. So that's where they are. Walking a little faster, Nikki made her way onto the lawn only to be faced with utter chaos. What was going on out here? Had everyone gone crazy? Nicole searched for the comfort of a friend, someone with perhaps a little sense left when she spotted the dogpile. That seemed as good a place as any to start so the endorphin inducing mutant walked briskly towards the pile, taking a mental note of who was in it. Will was on top (she liked Will, he was funny and he was going out with Teresa, another of Nicole's favourites), with Victor underneath him (he was nice though she didn't know him well), Graydon (another nice, funny boy), Skye (she was nice to talk to and really fun) and then Enzo on the very bottom (what a crazy guy). Poor Enzo, the little girl thought. She shook her head at the absurdity of the teenagers. Hormones. They make people nuts.

Smiling as she stopped in front of the fivesome, the little girl tilted her head to the side and said, "Hey guys. Um... what's going on? Did everyone eat something at lunch that made them go crazy or what?"

James groaned as Mia entered the medical bay dragging Liam who looked out of it to say the least. The reptilian noted with more than a little satisfaction that the Aussie still had a very obvious imprint of James' hand across his throat. It was only a second or two before Liam collapsed taking Mia with him. Nobody deserved that kind of torture in James' book. "One moment Lani. I'll behave for now."

He crossed to the growing pool of blood and reached down with one scaled arm. None too gently, he hoisted Liam off of the floor by the front of his shirt and carried the still vaguely cognizant Aussie to a bed. With a slight heave James got Liam onto the bed, though not too gently. After all, he was still pissed off about Liam kissing Teresa and Lani earlier without the girls' permission.

Returning to Lani's side he reached for her hand and took it, hoping she wouldn't pull away from him, but not blaming her if she did. "We have helped as much as we are able, Mia. You will need to find Hank or Jean to patch up Liam." As James finished addressing Mia he gave Lani a look that seemed to say very clearly that he wished to speak to her privately, but was too shy to actually ask.

Apparently Liam turning to smoke, entering Gator's ear, and singing wasn't as funny to everyone else as it was to him. Maybe they just hadn't noticed. Either way, it was fine by him because he had desperately needed a laugh. Wiping the tears from his eyes he tried to slow his breathing so he could actually answer the small crowd that was waiting for his answer. A few more laughs followed by some throat clearing coughs and he was ready to answer. "Didn't you guys see? Liam went in Ja-" he began to explain.

He was interrupted by Will's shout. Confused, he twisted his head to have a look at him and see what he was screaming about this time. Will was sprinting towards them at an obscene pace with no signs of slowing. Something must've really spooked him. It wasn't until he was nearly crushed that Enzo realized what exactly was happening.

"I have never felt so close to you guys as I do right now."
"Can't say I've ever felt this close either. Might've been a little more interesting under different circumstances. But anyway," Enzo managed to squeeze out. Skye's face was nearly close enough to scratch on his stubble, not a position he preferred to be surpised with. Breathing was difficult beneath the weight of the four other teenagers, and talking was positively excruciating. His next statement would be a bit more brief. At Skye's threat he simpled chimed, "Seconded."

His arms were pinned flat onto the ground, and even if they weren't it was unlikely he would've been able to free himself that way, not being the most muscular of individuals. He did have some other talents at his disposal. Enzo's eyes flashed brightly as his energy field surrounded him. With a grunt and a bit of concentration, he lifted all four teens off him and upgright. Except Will. A fresh dirt clod sticking to the back of his head was in stark contrast to the snicker on his face.

Will hung in the air, suspended by Enzo's energy shield wrapped around his ankles. His upside down visage hung in front of the now upright Italian. "Pinata maybe?" he said in a laughing tone before dropping Will on his back at his feet with a laugh.

"Hey guys. Um... what's going on? Did everyone eat something at lunch that made them go crazy or what?"

"Not much Nikki. You missed the food fight though, and Liam...being Liam," he answered the younger girl. Enzo stood up from his place on the ground, dusted himself off and shook his head. Looking back on the place he has been pinned he grinned again. "It's like a snow angel...without the snow," he said with a final laugh. The ground where he had lain now bore a very distinct outline of his slim frame. "And if no one has any other wrestling moves they wanna try out today, I think I might go get washed up."

Lani turned her head toward the door, her long black hair tossing over her shoulder from how quick she'd made the motion. No doubt Mia and Liam's presence had startled her a little, though she was simply too cool to jump in surprise like everyone else did. Dark eyes surveyed the mess of blood down the dark haired boy's shirt, and then the unfamiliar looking girl that was holding him up.

"I knew someone was going to really get hurt.", she clucked her tongue like a mother that 'told you so', and shook her head a little. As Gator picked up the boy that had sunk to the floor, pulling Mia down with him, she pulled a band from her wrist and tied her hair back at the nape of her neck with it, securing it out of her face. Talons clicked almost delicately on the floor as she crossed the room along with Gator. While her large counterpart roughly lifted Liam and transported him to a medical table, Lani, in turn, reached down to help Mia to her feet.

After helping the girl up to her feet, smiling politely, and even going so far as to point out a bit of blood that had gotten on her clothing, so she would know where to take special care washing it, Lani found that Gator had joined her side once more and wrapped his large scaled hand about hers. Blinking in surprise, she glanced up at him and caught his eye, and the message that he portrayed. Sighing a little, she glanced to Liam, then looked up to Gator once more and squeezed his fingers a little apologetically before releasing his hand and moving to the side of Liam's bed.

"He's lost a surprising amount of blood for a broken nose. I can understand getting nauseus and a little dizzy, but babbling's a little far past what I'd call a safe level of blood lost. I've seen broken noses and such plenty of times before through training, so I'll help him out best I can. However, one of you had probably better go find Dr. McCoy or Mrs. Gray-Summers."

The last few sentances were stated in a mildly apologetic tone for James's sake. She knew he wanted to talk, but now just wasn't the time. Tsking once more, she looked to Liam, then found herself a paper towel and started mopping up his face, neck, and nose. "You know you had it coming.", she stated quietly to the Australian lad, though the sentance was more matter-of-fact than it was 'I told you so', and she wasn't frowning at him as would probably be expected. Perhaps she was quicker to forgive than others?

James sighed through his nose as Lani left his side to go see to Liam. The damned Australian had brought it upon himself and there she was, fawning over him like he was soome sort of hero.

"Don't worry about it," James said a bit more gruffly to Mia than he intended. It wasn't her fault after all. "I'll go and get Hank or Jean. You look tired from supporting Liam," If James had to watch too much more of the Hawaiian girl caring for Liam then he really would dissolve the Aussie using his acid, and half the medical bay too.

Stalking from the bay, James thudded over to the elevator and jabbed the up button rather harder than he intended, cracking it. Entering the elevator, James pushed the up button and then slammed his scaled fist against the wall of the elevator several times. He wasn't anything like strong enough to dent the elevator wall, but somehow it made him feel better.

When the elevator stopped, James emerged and stalked off through the Mansion in search of Beast or Jean or Roberto or anyone really. "HELLO!" he bellowed, not caring if he disturbed anyone. What did it matter anyway, he was leaving the next day for Genosha. "HANK! ROBERTO! EMMA! JEAN! SCOTT!" James stomped angrily through the halls of the Mansion in search of an authority figure other than Skye or Will.

"There's no need to shout," Roberto said sleepily, emerging from his room in a pair of basketball shorts and little else. The Brazilian mutant had been enjoying a nap when the massive reptiloid had stalked by shouting for a teacher. "I'm right here, what's going on?" He looked at James, able to tell that the big mutant was clearly pissed off about something, though the Brazilian had no idea what could have made him so angry.

"The gorram Aussie has gone and gotten his damn nose broken by someone, I don't know who. He's bleeding all over the damn place making a helluva mess," James reported angrily. "Lani and Mia are down in the med. bay tending to him. I thought someone should know." Roberto began to understand why James was so angry. There was no missing the fact that he was sweet on Lani, in a big way. "If you'll excuse me." James pushed roughly past Roberto and into his room. Emerging a second later with swim trunks in his scaled hands. "I'm going to the pool." With that he entered the elevator and was gone again. Shrugging, Roberto went off to track down Beast or Jean and tell them that their medical services were needed.

After a couple of minutes of watching the pile of people lying on the grass, and then seeing Enzo chuck them all off of him Jubilee started to feel a bit calmer. Her fist was throbbing from where she'd pnched Liam and she rubbed her hand gentley as she stood up again. She ran a hand through her short black hair and walked over to the group, steadying her breathing and grinning at Will who was lying on the floor.

"Gotta tell you mighty leader, that ain't the most graceful and awe insipiring position." she said with a laugh, then looked at Nikki as Enzo told her what had been going on. And speaking of Liam, where had he got to? Jubilee glanced back towards the door of the mansion, had her punch really done that much damage? She'd expected Liam to follow her out, maybe chuck a couple of punches himself. But then again, this was Liam, if she's done something to damage his image, which a dented nose would probably do, then he might want to hide away until he'd found a away to fix it.

Jubilee felt a little pang of guilt, but then she reminded herself that Liam had been asking for it. She found him great fun to be around, when he wasn't annoying the hell out of her, and maybe the punch would settle him down a little. "Hey Nikki, did you pass Liam and Mia on your way out here?" Jubilee asked the younger girl. She was quite curious now to see what she'd managed to do and regretted walking out so quickly.

She turned to look at the mansion when she heard someone start to yell the names of random teachers. It sounded like James. Jubilee frowned slightly, what the hell was going on? Why was he yelling like that? She rubbed her hand again gentley, "If we're wrapping up out here, might go see what's goin' on in there." Jubilee said to the group, pointing back towards the mansion. "Check ya later people." she said giving a friendly wave and heading back towards the mansion once more.

"Eh." she said quietly to herself as she saw a couple of spots of blood on the floor of the entrance hall, heading towards the elevator. She headed quickly towards the elevator, heading for the medical bay. Surely if Liam had gone to the medical bay it had to be bad, he wouldn't accept help that easily if he didn't really need it. Jubilee tapped the button in the elevator, noticing that it had a substantial crack in it, looked like someone was in a bad mood.

Jubilee bit her lip nervously as the elevator moved. Liam was one of her friends, she hoped he wasn't going to be mad at her, after all, he had started the fight, he should have known he could get hurt. Shit, she was already thinking of excuses and she didn't even know if he was angry or not. He was a prat, a funny one, but a prat none the less, so why did she care so much.

As she stepped out of the elevator the first thing Jubilee noticed was the smears of blood on the floor, mainly because she slipped on them and landed flat on her ass. "Ow," she muttered to herself, leaning on the wall to help herself up. She cleared her throat slightly, letting them know she was in the room, although what with her falling about the place as soon as she entered the room she expected that they would already know.

"Um, Liam?" she said cautiously as she moved towards him, watching him sway slightly as he carried on bleeding. She glanced at Lani, "Is he gonna be ok?" she asked, concerned. She trusted Liam was out of it enough to not remember her asking after him when he felt better. She was used to people having broken noses, but if felt different giving one to someone for just being annoying, and outside the danger room, and Liam really didn't look good.

"By the way mate, you're a dead man."

"Seconded."

"Oh, come on guys!" Will smiled as he lay on top of the other four, deriving far too much joy from being the only one NOT in a potentially compromising scenario. "Don't hide your feelings!"

Will's gasp from the shock of being lifted off of the pile by some orange-glowing energy concentrated about his ankles turned into laughter as he was suspended upside-down in front of all of those who he had just pounced upon. Now, seeing the malevelont looks on all of their faces, he couldn't help but feel the slightest bit worried about what was going to happen if he didn't get himself down from Enzo's energy-noose soon.

"Pinata maybe?"

As long as they don't get a stick, I should be okay...and even then, they should be blind-folded.

"Trust me, buddy, you don't want any candy that might so happen to fall out of me...and I just now realized how awkward that last sentence was...damn."

Will chuckled softly and breathed a momentary sigh of relief as he felt the energy-bonds around his ankles loosen, but the sigh turned into an explosive "Oof!" as his back struck the ground, forcing the wind out of his lungs. Though he knew it might be more sensible to simply extricate himself from the dirt and grass, Will decided to simply cross his arms behind his head and look up at all of the others gathered around him, including the youngest, Nikki, who had just chosen to arrive. Since she had been there, she had become something of a younger sibling to just about everyone in the mansion, and was often doted upon by Skye and Teresa, which made him something of an older brother by default. And, in all truth, she was a good kid, so it worked out well.

"Gotta tell you mighty leader, that ain't the most graceful and awe insipiring position."

"Hey guys. Um... what's going on? Did everyone eat something at lunch that made them go crazy or what?"

"Actually, Enzo just ate a bunch of Pop-rocks and drank some warm Coke, so we were trying to cover him before he exploded..." Will smiled, dropping his head back to look at her from his position on the ground. Deciding he didn't really want to be filthy for the rest of the day, he drew himself up to his feet and dusted himself off, laughing. "But, as you can see, nothing can contain the sheer might of 'SHIELD'!"

"Hey Nikki, did you pass Liam and Mia on your way out here?"

"What happened to the Aussie, anyway? He and Gator still making out with each other or what? And where did Teresa go? I still gotta congratulate her for destroying Liam's manhood..." Will grinned as he remembered the vision of Teresa smashing her knee into the crotch of the young man, followed by the singlemost bug-eyed expression he's ever seen on a living person. "Just hope she's still not pissed at me for joining in on the madness...remind me not to present an open target...she might be a little 'knee-happy' today."

"And if no one has any other wrestling moves they wanna try out today, I think I might go get washed up."

He socked Enzo in the arm as he began to walk away and caught up with the boy as he walked towards the house. As they approached the mansion, Will's thoughts returned to the uncanny mess that they had probably left in the kitchen, and winced at the thought of who was going to have to clean that one up.

"Come on, everyone!" He yelled over his shoulder. "We might need to hide before we get stuck as the clean-up crew..."

Skye laughed at Enzo's comment, seconding her own that Will was cruisin' for a bruisin' that they would be more than happy to administer. Or perhaps a little prank payback was in order. Will had certainly gotten her more than her fair share of times, it was time she paid her dues.

She was just beginning to get used to breathing under the weight of three very healthy teenage boys when suddenly Enzo's eyes flashed and he grunted with effort. The blonde's eyes widened when she felt herself lifted off the Italian by his force field but was pleasantly surprised to find herself standing upright rather than flat on her ass. Will, however, wasn't as lucky first being hung upside down. The Londoner couldn't help but laugh at the display of their force field generating friend. Enzo was definetly entertaining when he wanted to be.

"Pinata maybe?"

"Trust me, buddy, you don't want any candy that might so happen to fall out of me...and I just now realized how awkward that last sentence was...damn."

Skye laughed and said, "Oh gross Will! No one needed to know that part!"

Just as Enzo let go of Will and he made his "graceful" return to Earth, Jubilee joined the group and her comment threw the impalpable mutant into a fresh gale of laughter. As she stopped laughing, Skye noticed Nikki had also made an appearance. The blonde wondered where the little girl had been during lunch. Normally she was right there with them, laughing and chatting but today she'd been absent. Since she'd arrived at the mansion, Skye had taken time out to make the little girl feel welcome. With no girls around her age living at the mansion, it would be easy for her to feel lonely. Nicole had become somethng of a fixture around Skye, Teresa and Will (though she got along well with everyone) and the blonde quite liked the little girl. Maybe she was playing with Sy and Nate.

"Hey guys. Um... what's going on? Did everyone eat something at lunch that made them go crazy or what?"

"Not much Nikki. You missed the food fight though, and Liam...being Liam."

Nicole giggled at the thought of all the older students involved in a food fight. No wonder Enzo had pudding in his hair! And... was that dirt too? Nikki shook her head with a smile. It was probably Liam that had started it all. The Australian was a funny guy and he was nice to her, although Nikki knew that he was nice to all the girls, which was why Paige, Cessily and Ari were always talking about him. But he was nice in a different way to her, although it was a kind of different that Nicole couldn't put her finger on.

The blonde chuckled and ruffled the little blue eyed girl's hair as Will gave his own explanation for their dogpile. When he finished, Skye leaned down to be eye to eye with the dark haired mutant and winked before whispering loud enough for them all to hear, "Boys are completely mad. Remember that and you'll have the explanation for everything they do." Standing once more, Skye flashed the boys present a smile before chuckling.

"Hey Nikki, did you pass Liam and Mia on your way out here?"

Nicole looked up at Jubilee with her dark blue eyes and shook her head emphatically. "Nope, I didn't see anyone. That's why I came out actually. There wasn't anyone around and the house seemed WAY too quiet." She shrugged before adding, "But I did see some red spots on the floor." Nikki didn't add that the spots looked like blood and whoever they had come from must have been bleeding quite a bit because the red marks got bigger the further away from the front doors you got.

"What happened to the Aussie, anyway? He and Gator still making out with each other or what? And where did Teresa go? I still gotta congratulate her for destroying Liam's manhood..."Just hope she's still not pissed at me for joining in on the madness...remind me not to present an open target...she might be a little 'knee-happy' today."

Skye grinned at the thought of Teresa kneeing the Australian right where it hurt. Though Teresa was normally a patient, non-violent person, if you pushed her too far, you'd better run. She had a hefty kick alright. Skye had witnessed the petite brunette put a substantial dent in one of their training dummies with a kick only a week before. Anyone in the way of THAT was going to be hurting for quite awhile. Replying to Eclipse's comment, the blonde said, " I've got no clue where she went but maybe you'd better put on a jock strap just in case. That is, if you want to have kids of course."

"And if no one has any other wrestling moves they wanna try out today, I think I might go get washed up."

Skye shook her head and said, "Agreed. Time to put on some non-grass stained clothes. Thanks to that complete nutter Cessily, I've got grass stains all over my bloo... my shirt and trousers." The Brit was still getting used to keeping her language clean with the 12 year old Nikki around and although she was good about it most of the time, she did slip up every now and again. Skye looked down at Nicole only to be met with the girl's knowing look and a half smile. The blonde guiltily returned the smile and looked back up, hoping she wasn't teaching the black haired teen anything she didn't already know.

"Come on, everyone!" Will yelled over his shoulder. "We might need to hide before we get stuck as the clean-up crew..." Nicole groaned as she remembered the complete catastrophe in the kitchen. She hadn't even been in the kitchen when it happened! She certainly didn't want to get stuck cleaning up a mess she didn't even have the pleasure of making. The little girl sped up her stride, taking Skye's hand urging her to keep up.

Wee!

It was all Liam could think when Gator lifted him far-too gruffly and dropped him on the examination table. Everyone knew, after all, that the best way of dealing with someone with a broken appendage was to be as rough with them as physically possible. It just made perfect sense. Maybe not to most people, but Liam was quite a bit out of it at that point, so it didn't really bother him much at all. Coughing a bit as being on his back caused blood to block his airway, he rolled onto his side and held out on bloody hand to grab Mia's arm softly, trying to stabilize himself as best he could. In all truth, he hadn't really gotten to know the girl that well, but she seemed to tolerate his existence well enough and had been nice enough to carry him to get some treatment, so he figured this was the start of a glorious friendship.

"Sorry I got all bleedy on you...you have nice skin," he rubbed his thumb across her soft arm a couple times, grinning at how different it felt from his own skin, almost as if she were made of water. "It's very...buh-lue. Did you notice? Very blue. Yes."

He chuckled softly and winced again as Gator stormed from the room, obviously angry at the attention that Liam was receiving. Looks like I dropped in at just the right time...prevented some passionate lizard-loving...gross...

"Don't be TOO surprised, mate!" Liam called after him, still conscious enough to taunt. He assumed that would be the last thing that he ever parted with before lapsing into unconsciousness. "I've been stealing your spotlight since the daaaaaaay I flalalalaloated innnnn..." He grinned and let his head drop onto the cold, sterile table, watching out of the corner of his eye as blood dripped onto the silvery-blue metal.

"You know you had it coming."

He squinted his eyes shut hard as Lani's attempts at cleaning him up sent waves of pain emanating out from the center of his face, but he didn't make a noise of protest as he could feel the steady stream of blood begin to slow, and he could even smell a hint of disinfectant over the rusty-metallic odor of his own blood. Blinking a bit, trying to regain his composure slightly as he no longer felt like he was going to pass out, but still remained a bit loopy, he kept his one hand on Mia's arm and propped his other underneath his head, making it easier for Lani to clean him up.

"Thanks for taking care of me," he smiled through bloody teeth up at the two of them. "Mia, you're my favorite jelly-girl. Lani, you're my favorite dino-leg-girl. My FAVORITES! Thank you, thank you..."

"Um, Liam?"

His eyes flicked in the direction of the door as he saw Jubilee come rushing in, looking significantly more concerned for his well-being than she had been when she had GIVEN him the broken nose.

Knew she couldn't stay mad at me for long...

"Is he gonna be ok?"

"Look guys, it's Ju-belly. Get it? Yeah!" Liam grinned, trying to make it apparent that he wasn't holding a grudge against the girl. After all, she had been the one to actually get him set up around the place on his first day, and he was mostly impressed by how well she landed that punch. "Jubilee...come 'ere...come 'ere...you smacked the piss out of me...well, not really, it was more blood than anything...but it's an expression, right? RIGHT, girls?!"

Still smirking like an idiot, Liam squeezed Mia's arm again before letting go to touch his own nose, immediately recoiling his hand as the shockwave of pain went through him.

"Hey, anyone got a match? I might be able to fix this meself..."

"Look guys, it's Ju-belly. Get it? Yeah!" Liam grinned, trying to make it apparent that he wasn't holding a grudge against the girl.

"Ha. Ha." Jubilee said sarcastically and rolled her eyes at him, but really she was glad he wasn't mad at her, and in a strange way glad that he was still joking about, despite having blood pouring from his nose.

"Jubilee...come 'ere...come 'ere...you smacked the piss out of me...well, not really, it was more blood than anything...but it's an expression, right? RIGHT, girls?!"

"I sure did, now you know, quit messin' with me." Jubilee said, only slightly joking. She took a couple of steps further into the room, but stayed out of grabbing reach of Liam. She didn't want him covering her in blood, or gripping onto her like he was doing to Mia. She laughed, "Yeah, right Liam, it's an expression and you're hilarious, as always. And no, I don't have any matches, sorry. You should start carrying some around with you." she said with a shrug, and wrinkled up her nose, he was still bleeding quiet a lot.

Jubilee rummaged around in some of the cupboard for a second, before pulling out a box of tissues, "here." she said, taking a few out of the box. She almost reached out to put them under Liam's nose, but then pushed them into his hand so he could do it himself. He could barely stop making jokes when he didn't have ammo, she wasn't going to give him more. "I think we should probably just get the bleeding to stop right now, you can fix it yourself later." Another reason Jubilee had for not wanting him to 'smoke it up' was because he still seemed a bit out of it, he might not have complete control over his powers right now. But she didn't want to say that to him, it might just make him want to prove himself more.

Lani observed quietly as Jubilee entered the room and as Mia kept her similarly quiet post in the room as well. Sighing quietly, she continued to mop the blood from Liam's face with the paper towel, cleaning the most of it off. At least the bleeding had slowed.

"Is he gonna be ok?"

Observations pending that her roommate had started to grow fond of this Australian upstart, Lani shrugged her shoulders, her face kept uncharacteristically straight. At the moment, there was no friendly gleam in her eyes, no polite smile ready on her lips. Just a blank, stoic mask. "Of course he'll be just fine. It's only a broken nose. All he needs is some orange juice and a bit of rest."

"Hey, anyone got a match? I might be able to fix this meself..."

With a quiet grunt, Lani shook her head and placed the bloodied towels on a small tray-like table near the examination table the obnoxiously handsome boy was prone upon. "Just how much do you know about your own anatomy? Bone structure, muscle structure, how nerves and arteries run and connect? If my guess is right, when you reform, it's automatic, not brought together piece by piece for knowledge of your own body."

Shaking her head, and ruining what could be a cool trick with her logic, Lani instead placed her hand on the boy's forehead, pressing his head lightly back into the table, more to hold it still than to cause painful pressure. "More than likely, it'll be just the same if you try that. We'll fix it the old fashioned way." That stated, she took a gentle, cradling hold of his nose with her other hand, feeling how the cartilage was popped out from where it ought to be. His nose was broken, sure, but bone didn't feel like it was shattered. It just felt as though the cartilage was misplaced, and that could be fixed easy.

"This will hurt." Her warning was brief, and after giving him only a second to brace himself, Lani tightened her grip on his nose and flicked her wrist to the side, snapping the cartilage back into place with a wet 'Snck!' noise.

James snarled as he exited the elevator for what was the second time in less than fifteen minutes. He was now clad only in swim trunks and had a towel thrown over his shoulders. As he passed the infirmary he slammed a scaled fist into the metallic wall, leaving no mark. Whether the pound was to alert those inside that he had completed his mission, warn Liam that he still heartily wished bodily harm upon the Aussie, or simply to let off more steam was anybody's guess.

Entering the pool area, James flung his towel away and took a deep breath before diving into the pool. The reptilian mutant thrashed around underwater for several minutes, releasing anger mostly. After surfacing for air he sank back down to the bottom of the pool in the deep end by the diving boards and sat there crosslegged on the bottom, elbows resting on his knees and chin in his hands. If someone wanted him for something they could come and find him. Eyes open underwater he stared blankly at the far wall of the pool, barely moving.

He'd had his nose broken before, even before his powers activated, and the experience had been much the same as this one. For some reason, no matter how many times that cartilage got smacked around, it only ever got displaced...never shattered. So the process had always been relatively simple, really. His nose would be out of place for a little bit, the blood in his nostrils would dry and cause him to sneeze, and the force of the sneeze would right the position of his nose. Not really the most scientific of remedies, but it had always worked up until this point.

But not today.

Today, Jubilee, his good buddy, had railed him in the nose, and caused him to bleed quite a bit more than usual, which led to a distinct change in Liam's usually snarky-behavior. Gone was the constant commentary riddled with sarcasm, to be replaced with a rambling goofy commentary that lacked nearly any trace of maliciousness. Put simply, if you smacked him hard enough, Liam was the sweetest guy on the face of the planet. Funny how that works.

"Just how much do you know about your own anatomy? Bone structure, muscle structure, how nerves and arteries run and connect? If my guess is right, when you reform, it's automatic, not brought together piece by piece for knowledge of your own body."

"I have no bloody clue what you just said..." Liam grinned up at Lani, who had fallen into the role of physician quite naturally. "You sound like Dr. Grey. Doesn't she sound like Dr. Grey, guys? Dr. Lani...ripper..."

Regardless of the pain, which he had now grown accustomed to, Liam was still chuckling softly and carrying on, genuinely happy in his own mind to be surrounded by people who he liked around the mansion. Now that Gator was gone (and now pounding on the door for some unknown reason), he was in a huddle of people that he genuinely enjoyed being around, and that was good enough for him.

"More than likely, it'll be just the same if you try that. We'll fix it the old fashioned way."

"Old fashioned way?" Liam asked, still grinning. "What's the old fashio-"

"This will hurt."

"Wha-FUCK!"

Liam was immediately snapped out of his joyous reverie by the mind-searing pain that followed Lani's "fix" to his little problem. The sneeze-method, while painful, had never been like this, and he found himself grasping his nose and his whole body jerking so violently that he actually launched himself off of the table, landing hard on his side on the cold metallic floor.

Grunting and cursing, Liam writhed on the ground for a short while before bringing himself to his knees, elbows still resting on the floor as he breathed heavily. As much as the click of his nose back into place had hurt, the constant ache was now gone to be replaced by a tender-throbbing coming from the bridge of his nose, which he recognized as everything being returned to it's rightful place.

Bloody hell...

Still panting, he ran a bloody hand through his hair and looked up at the rest of them, smile beginning to work it's way onto his face once again. Still in pain, but regaining coherence, although he was still remarkably shaky, Liam began to chuckle softly as he met eyes with Mia, Jubilee, and his favorite nurse, Lani.

"Um...good on ya, Lani...thanks for that...I suppose," Liam grinned, his expression a mix between pain, amusement, and gratitude. "But I'd appreciate it if you don't touch me face for a while...I know that'll hard for you to resist and all, but bear with me."

Note to self...never come crying to Lani...

Lani lifted her hands away from Liam's face when he hollared and bucked himself straight off the table, taking a quick step back so that he didn't fall right on top of her feet. She wouldn't care so much, but it was probably very uncomfortable to have even the dull side of her bone hard talons jammed into your back.

A faint, empathetic grin crossed her face as she watched Liam roll on the floor and, after a few seconds, push himself up onto elbows and knees. Cruel as that expression may seem, smiling at the Aussie's pain, it was more for knowing exactly what he was going through, and realizing that he was making more of a fuss out of having his nose popped back into place than what she had ever done past the age of eleven. Training along with other village children in her father's classes, she had seen her fair share of broken noses, accidental or otherwise, and been on the recieving end of a couple of those herself. She'd watched her dad plenty of times before as he fixed bleeding and disjointed noses, enough times to learn how and use this technique upon Liam that had here today been on the short end of a less-than-accidental nose breaking.

"Um...good on ya, Lani...thanks for that...I suppose, but I'd appreciate it if you don't touch me face for a while...I know that'll hard for you to resist and all, but bear with me."

Chuckling a little and shaking her head, Lani leaned down a little and offered a hand to help the boy back up onto his feet. For the first time since the beginning of the whole fiasco, Lani had that same polite smile and cheerful glow about her that she was better known for. Sometimes it really did just take someone getting the crap beat out of them for people to lighten up.

"I can manage. Strong willed, you know. But I wouldn't have done it in the first place weren't I worried about you ruining that pretty face." Her smile turned to more of a grin, the sentance laced with playful sarcasm and good natured teasing.

At the moment, there was no friendly gleam in her (Lani's) eyes, no polite smile ready on her lips. Just a blank, stoic mask. "Of course he'll be just fine. It's only a broken nose. All he needs is some orange juice and a bit of rest."

Jubilee's face fell slightly and a frown creased her forhead. She had just wanted to know if Liam was ok, there was no need for her roommate to get all sniffy with her. Just because Lani knew he was going to be fine doesn't mean other people couldn't care as well. And she'd been the one to cause Liam to start bleeding, why the hell shouldn't she be allowed to ask if he was ok without being looked down on.

She turned her gaze from Lani to Liam, not sure if she'd be able to hold her tongue if she kept looking at dino-girl. So what if she was a year older, didn't mean she knew everything, Jubilee had been doing this a hell of a lot longer than the village girl. Then came the crack. Jubilee flinched as she heard it, but not as much as Liam had. She almost moved to help Liam up, but then Lani would probably tell her she was doing it wrong Jubilee thought bitterly.

Jubilee watched silently as Lani smirked at Liam's obvious discomfort and then laughed as she helped him up, some team player she was, smiling at someone else's pain. Lani's normal cheerful expression soon returned to her face, but it took Jubilee a little longer to put on her mask. Jubilee smiled and leant back against the wall casually, acting like she was fine was one thing Jubilee could do alright, hopefully without Lani criticising.

She looked over at Mia and gave her a smile, trying to ignore the playful banter between Liam and Lani. She hated the thought that her friend might be spending time with other people, even though she knew how immature and selfish that thought was. "Sorry bout leaving ya in the lurch with this great lump." she said to the blue tinted girl, and gesturing at Liam. "Just couldn't help myself, y'know."

Liam grinned broadly as he took Lani's hand and was lifted up off the ground, spreading his arms slightly to fight the light-headedness that came as much from the slight change in altitude as the significant blood loss that he had just experienced. Back in Melbourne, there was hardly a day that went by that he wasn't slapped in the face by someone (be they male or female), but those usually only resulted in an angry-red handprint across his cheek or, at worse, a dark bruise somewhere across his countenance. Here, however, if he were to be slapped across the face, he might end up with jellyfish-stings, scales, burns, thorns, or trace-metals somewhere on his face.

I should tell myself to watch my step...but would I listen? Nah...

"I can manage. Strong willed, you know. But I wouldn't have done it in the first place weren't I worried about you ruining that pretty face."

"Try to fight it for as long as you can, Okalani," Liam smirked, emphasizing his use of her full first name. "But don't be surprised if you find yourself outside my bedroom door, trying to work up the nerve to break in and worship my existence...sometimes it's just too much to take, I know."

Liam turned his head over his shoulder to where Mia and Jubilee were conversing and threw in another snide remark.

"Same goes for you, too, ladies...though I'm honestly surprised you've all been able to resist this long. I don't know if you know this...but I'm kind of a big deal, if that's the way the line goes, I don't really remember...but you get the point."

Turning back, Liam slowly sauntered over to one of the sterile sinks on the far end of the medbay, turning on the water and grabbing several paper towels that he proceeded to soak in the water and then mop all of the excess blood away from his face, taking special care around his tender nose. Tossing his residue into one of the hazardous materials bags that lined the trashcans next to the sink, Liam turned around and leaned up against the sink, smiling at Mia, Lani, and Jubes.

"So, by a show of hands, who had fun, eh?" Liam thrust his hand into the air as he spoke, grinning smugly at all three girls and waiting for their reactions. "Honestly? Can any of you girlies say this whole experience wasn't highly entertaining?"

Jubilee tried to concentrate on Mia and what she was saying, but Liam's words were still getting through. Great, just great, he'd gone straight back to his normal obnoxious self. Normally Jubilee wouldn't care, but she'd expected the belt in the face she'd just given him to maybe have some sort of affect. That mixed with her annoyance at Lani was just making her feel stressed.

"Same goes for you, too, ladies...though I'm honestly surprised you've all been able to resist this long. I don't know if you know this...but I'm kind of a big deal, if that's the way the line goes, I don't really remember...but you get the point."

She turned to look at him and Liam adresses her and Mia, a dark look on her face. She couldn't be bothered with this, with him. If he wanted to make a fool out of himself and have everyone hate him, so be it, she hoped he be happy with it. She couldn't be bothered to be around that any more. "Maybe the reason why us girlies have been able to resist is because you are a complete waste of time. Maybe if we thought you wouldn't just make snide comments every time someone was nice to you, people would want to be around you more."

Jubilee walked across the room towards Liam and poked him hard in the chest to amphasise her point. "Maybe, if you didn't act like a complete asshole with that stupid smug look on your face all the time, apart from when you're losing blood, people would be able to stand to be around you for more than 10 minutes at a time." she snapped at him, her blue eyes scowling into his. "Cos you know what Liam? I can't be bothered any more. It was funny for a while, now it's just pathetic. Grow up."

As she finished speaking Jubilee turned on her heel and walked out of the room, heading for the elevator without waiting to see if Liam would respond with another snide comment. She couldn't believe she'd just snapped like that, or that she, Jubilee, had told someone to grow up, but acting carefree all the time was exhusting. Jubilee liked having Liam as a friend, but when he acted like that and she wasn't in the right mood it was easier to just get out. No point sticking around just to get hurt.

Mia stood to the side of the med bay and simply watched the scene unfolding in front of her. James stormed off in a huff; Lani took over doctor duty; Jubilee came in to look after Liam; Jubilee, Liam, and Lani exchanged words; Jubilee got mad at Lani; Lani re-broke Liam's nose; Liam shouted profanities; Liam flirts with Lani and later Jubilee; Jubilee gets mad at Liam and runs off. Nothing like your average day at high school.

Grabbing a wet paper towel, Mia began dabbing at the almost-dried dark red patch on her shoulder from where Liam had bled on her on the trip downstairs. She listened to the conversation going on around her while she helped to clean up slowly, not really willing to get involved in the continuing argument, but not entirely willing to leave and miss anything. Liam appeared to be okay again; he was already reverting back to his usual smart-ass self. Jubilee, however, did not seem to be amused. Instead of playing along as she usually did, the firework-shooting mutant was freaking out about his behavior towards the girls. Or is she just mad at how he was acting towards Lani? Somebody's jealous... Mia thought idly to herself, amused by the entire situation. Ever since she first met Liam and Jubilee on her first day at the mansion, she pegged them as a couple at best and great friends at the least. Sharing doesn't seem to be her strong suit...

As Jubilee stormed from the room, Mia turned to look at the other two remaining students. The medical emergency seemed to be over, and the room was clean; no point in hanging around. Shrugging as if to say "I don't know what's happening" (though it was far from the truth), Mia turned to leave as well. "See you guys later."

"Maybe the reason why us girlies have been able to resist is because you are a complete waste of time. Maybe if we thought you wouldn't just make snide comments every time someone was nice to you, people would want to be around you more."

What the bloody hell?

Just as soon as things had calmed down and everyone seemed to have mellowed-out for the most part, and the face-punchery craze that had swept across the mansion (proudly Liam's fault) was as non-existent as Pokemon cards and acid-wash jeans, it seemed that his normal, baseline-Liam behavior had set off the usually-calm Jubilee into yet another tirade. Smirk falling completely off of his face in indignation and disbelief as Jubilee, the one person at the mansion who nearly always seemed amused by his characteristic-antics, layed into him for just throwing off a few flirty comments to a couple girls in the room that he had openly flirted with on an almost-daily basis...in front of Jubilee, even!

What's she going on about?

"Maybe, if you didn't act like a complete asshole with that stupid smug look on your face all the time, apart from when you're losing blood, people would be able to stand to be around you for more than 10 minutes at a time. Cos you know what Liam? I can't be bothered any more. It was funny for a while, now it's just pathetic. Grow up."

Mouth agape in shock, he coughed slightly as Jubilee jabbed him hard in the chest with his finger, knocking him backwards half-a-step as his brow knitted between his eyes, complete confusion running through his mind as, for the first time that he could remember, Liam was struck completely silent.

"See you guys later."

If it were possible, Liam's jaw dropped even further as Jubilee turned on her heel and stormed out, followed shortly thereafter by Mia sliding out as silently as possible, leaving he and Lani alone to listen to their retreating footsteps; Jubilee's hard and aggressive on the cold steel, Mia's soft and airy, as if her feet weren't even touching down upon the ground at all. The two of them had been the first people he had really gotten to know well over the short while that he had been at the mansion, as well as one could really get to know Mia, at least, and he felt as empty as the room as he watched the two of them leave the room, only a soft twinge of arrogance remaining in his heart.

His gaze becoming steel, Liam ignored the spinning in his head and sprinted out into the hall, looking in both directions for the two of them, but found Mia was already out of his sight, but Jubilee was marching quickly towards the elevator. Cursing to himself, unsuccessfully glancing over his shoulder to see if he could find Mia, he shot towards Jubilee and grabbed her by her arm, tightening his grip to hold himself up.

"Oy!" He started, smirk gone completely from his face to be replaced by a look of concerned-annoyance. "What the bloody hell are you going on about? You don't want me to call you 'girly' anymore? Fine! But what was THAT all about? You've been my mate since I got here; you run with me; you're my FRIEND! Up until now, I've been able to get a rise out of you by doing what I just did in there, and all you've done is laughed. Today, you punched me in the face, and you just dressed me down for no being myself. What do you want from me, eh? WHAT?!"

Lani simply grinned at Liam and spread her arms, palms up, and shrugged in a helpless 'what can you do?' fashion. She would have put an arm around his neck and pulled him in for a noogie, but she had picked up on the vibe that Jubilee was giving off. The prehistoric girl didn't address the attitude, but she picked it up as soon as the spark of irritation toward her had ignited in her roomate's expressions.

So, she settled for just slipping her hands into the pockets of her denim capris and shifting her weight onto one leg, observing as Liam made fairly womanizing comments, but only jokingly, she knew. Yet, these managed to rub Jubilee the wrong way and cause her to snap, yell at Liam, jab him, and storm off, followed soon by a much calmer Mia. Lani glanced to Liam, who stood in shock for a moment, then shrugged lightly to him. When he took off after Jubilee, her dark eyes followed after, and soon, she too left the room.

However, fairly interested in the drama unfurling under her nose, Lani turned to follow after Liam and Jubilee, lingering behind them, and when they stopped, she too stopped and leaned sideways against the wall, simply watching with an expression of faint amusement on her face.

Jubilee turned to look at Liam as he grabbed hold of her tightly, not flinching, although his grip was hurting. She almost sent out a stream of fireworks to dazzle him to give her a chance to get away, but stopped herself, listening to what he had to say.

Today, you punched me in the face, and you just dressed me down for no being myself. What do you want from me, eh? WHAT?!"

"Nothing, I don't want anything from you." Jubilee said, pulling her arm back to try and get it out of Liam's grip but not quite managing, but feeling a bit triumphant that she'd managed to get her point across. "you are fun to be around, it's just sometimes...it's just wearing. It would be nice to be able to have a conversation without the snide comments and the arrogant looks." she said, and paused, her eyes flickering over to where Lani was standing, still with that smarmy look on her face. Why can't she just mind her own business? Is it that interesting? Jubilee thought, her frown deepening a bit. Her almond shaped eyes focused on Liam again as she tried to ignore Lani in the background and she smirked slightly but her eyes stayed cold,

"And I thought you wanted a punch up? Why you complaining now? I thought you wanted to cause trouble, to get a few hits in. I thought you said it was going to lighten the mood." she turned around and pushed the button to call the elevator a couple of times, but it seemed to be taking ages to arrive. "I guess you were wrong about that."

She looked back a Liam, her gaze softening slightly, "Maybe I shouldn't have yelled at you, or hit you, but it is hard not to take some of the things you say personally." she said, wishing he wasn't holding so tightly onto her arm, but still not pulling away. "You're a good friend Liam, I just wish you could act like I was your friend, rather than just another girl for you to tease."

Jubilee wasn't sure if that was what she wanted, just to be his friend, but if he treated her like she was a guy friend then maybe she would find it easier to see him flirting with the other girls and to just laugh along like normal. But then would she get upset if he never treated her like all the others? Jubilee didn't know. She just felt in a wierd mood today, maybe it was because of all the fighting earlier, she just felt stressed. Or maybe she was jealous, but that would mean she was getting too attached, and Jubilee didn't feel like she'd known Liam for long enough to be able to trust him properly yet, even if she did have fun with him. "Please let go, you're hurting me." Jubilee said quietly as the elevator door finally pinged and opened up, but she didn't move to enter it.

Her eyes moved to Lani again, Jubilee had almost forgotten she was there at all, "Hows the entertainment today? All to your pleasure?" she snapped. She knew it wasn't really Lani's fault, they were kind of standing in the way of one of the exits, but did she have to look like she was enjoying it all so much? Jubilee hated arguing with her friend, but she hated it being on public display even more.

"Nothing, I don't want anything from you. You are fun to be around, it's just sometimes...it's just wearing. It would be nice to be able to have a conversation without the snide comments and the arrogant looks."

There's a disturbance in the Force...

Liam maintained his grip on Jubilee's arm, but relaxed it upon her command. He hadn't realized the strength with which he was holding her in place, and he mumbled an apology as Jubilee continued her rant about his behavior. Yes, he knew he was an ass, and had come to embrace this fact, and he had always thought that this is what Jubilee liked about him. They were partners in crime at the school. When there was trouble, the two of them were nearly always behind it, whether it be intentional or not, and she was the only person he had ever considered to be anywhere near him in terms of mischeiviousness. To attest to that was by no-means a small thing for Liam.

"And I thought you wanted a punch up? Why you complaining now? I thought you wanted to cause trouble, to get a few hits in. I thought you said it was going to lighten the mood. I guess you were wrong about that."

"Yeah, I wanted everyone to beat the living piss out of each other so that we could all ACTUALLY be friends around here, ever think of that?" Liam frowned, his voice not as heated as he had wanted it to be. More than anything, he was frustrated and confused by the way Jubilee was acting. Where was his mate who was always there to laugh at him and smack him around? "Everyone walks around this place so stuffed up with bloody emotions and hormones that nobody ever actual speaks their mind and ACTS on them. You wanted to punch me in the face, so you punched me in the face, and you can NOT tell me that you didn't feel a hell of a lot better afterwards."

Liam looked into his friend's eyes as he heard the soft clicking of Lani's nails on the steel floor behind him. Right now, he thought it best to ignore her presence and focus on the matter at hand, which was figuring out why exactly the once-plucky Jubilee was acting as if someone had severely rained on her parade.

"Maybe I shouldn't have yelled at you, or hit you, but it is hard not to take some of the things you say personally. You're a good friend Liam, I just wish you could act like I was your friend, rather than just another girl for you to tease. Please let go, you're hurting me."

"Is that what this is all about, then?" Liam said, eyebrows furrowed. He released his grip completely on her wrist and ran his hand through his messy hair, staring at the floor. "You're not just a girl for me to tease, Jubes. You're my mate, but you're also a girl. I flirt, it's me thing, and I'm not going to stop. Thing is, you got pissed even before I said anything to you; while I was still talking to Lani..." Liam paused for a moment and dropped his hand, looking into Jubilee's blue eyes. "Is that what this is? Does it bother you that I flirt with everyone? Are you, dare I say, jealous?"

Liam crossed his arms and looked at her intensely, no smile evident on his face. Jubilee was his friend, and she had a very special place in his heart, but there was no way in hell he was going to stop being who he was. He was Liam Riley Cameron; the Aussie heart-breaker...and there was no changing that.

"Hows the entertainment today? All to your pleasure?"

"Oy, girly," Liam began, raising his hand to stop Jubilee. "You and me've got business to settle first."

Try to change the subject off of me...pfssshhht...

Oy, girly," Liam began, raising his hand to stop Jubilee. "You and me've got business to settle first.""

Jubilee glared at Liam, "My God, it's like talking to a blimin' brick wall, get your hand out of my face." she said, throwing her hands up in frustration and then using one to push his hand away. "I asked you not five minutes ago not to call me girly. It's almost as annoying as Jub Jubs." she added in a muttered tone.

She frowned slightly as she thought about what he'd just said, "No...I'm not jealous." she said cautiously, hoping that that wasn't actually the case. She didn't think it was, but as he said it she had a sudden flash of doubt. Maybe she was, maybe that was it. But she didn't want to be jealous, Liam had every right to act exactly how he wanted and with whomever. They hadn't known each other all that long, but they'd been spending so much time together, causing trouble and laughing at the others. Jubilee suddenly realised that she did trust him more than all the others, that she felt more comfortable around him then the people who had arrived here 3 months before him, despite his acting like an ass to everyone. Maybe it was that which made her warm to him so easily, they both put on a big show to hide behind, or at least that was what Jubilee assumed he did.

Jubilee shifted her feet, feeling uncomfortable under his intense smokey gaze. She felt like a little school girl being told off for her behavior and now she couldn't for the life of her see why she'd blown up so much. He was her friend, she should be happy for him to do whatever he wanted. "You can flirt with whoever ya want, of course ya can. I wouldn't want you to change who ya are." she said, rubbing the toe of her boot on the cold tile, "That wasn't why I got pissed off before." she added after a brief pause, meeting his gaze. "I got pissed off 'cos of her acting like I'm a little child." she said slightly angrily, gesturing towards Lani beyond Liam, "smirking like she knows something because I care about a friend, when she knows fuck all about me and how I'm feeling." she snapped, then suddenly realised that Lani was actually there, and she could hear her. Jubilee bit her lip, stopping herself from saying anything else, but she was already regretting what she had said.

A soft sigh escaped her lips, great, just great. Now she'd just gone and put her foot in it. First smacking her best friend in the face, then having a go at him, then making things awkward between her and her room mate. This was the problem with acting before thinking. She took a step back from Liam and leant against the cold wall, tilting her head back and shutting her eyes, wishing she could just erase the last hour and start again. Hindsight is always 20:20. Jubilee wished someone would just say something, maybe Lani wouldn't take offence at what she'd said. The Hawiian seemed fairly calm and good natured most of the time, maybe now would be the same. But in a way that would be worse than her yelling at her in responce.

"Are we done yet?" she asked quietly, wanting to escape and hide away by herself. She couldn't break down, not in front of people and she had a terrible feeling she might. Stress she could handle when there was something she could do, but stuff like this was more tricky. If she could just get away, think stuff through by herself then she would be fine in an hour or so and everything could go back to normal. But she didn't want to leave Liam thinking she was infatuated with him or anything, that would just be embarassing and could ruin their friendship.

"My God, it's like talking to a blimin' brick wall, get your hand out of my face. I asked you not five minutes ago not to call me girly. It's almost as annoying as Jub Jubs."

There we go...

Liam's brow unfurled and his casual smirk once again crept across his face as Jubilee swatted his hand away, her disappointed anger being replaced with the characteristic indignance that he had come to associate her with.

"Come on, I could call you SO much worse," Liam grinned, scratching the back of his head. "And I'll never call you Jub Jub...what do I look like? Some bleedin' Ewok? No bloody way..."

She was floundering, and the knowledge of that made Liam's smile falter a bit as she continued to speak. No matter what she might be saying, there was something churning beneath the surface of Jubilee's words that she was not letting onto, and Liam could tell that she was trying to use Lani's presence as a way of getting the attention off of her. This, in a way, was the way that their friendship had worked since he had arrived at the mansion. The two of them could put on a great show and look like identical halves of the same person, but back them in a corner and separate them and you found out just how they reacted when forced to view themselves.

Liam sneers; Jubilee prickles.

"You can flirt with whoever ya want, of course ya can. I wouldn't want you to change who ya are. That wasn't why I got pissed off before. I got pissed off 'cos of her acting like I'm a little child; smirking like she knows something because I care about a friend, when she knows fuck all about me and how I'm feeling."

When she finished her rant, Liam felt slightly exhausted as Jubilee's sigh thrust out of her lips, signifying just how frustrated she was with the entire thing. If she claimed not to be jealous, and this was all about Lani, why didn't she just punch Lani in the face like she did Liam? Jubilee WAS that straightforward when it came do it, so what could it be that was holding her back. Sure, Lani had the advantage in a physical dispute, but, like Liam, Jubilee had never really been daunted by a persons physicality before, especially if a fight was involved.

"Are we done yet?"

"Come here and shut up," Liam grinned, reaching his arms out to Jubilee, pulling her head in to rest against his shoulder and wrapping his arms around her shoulders and waist. Liam wasn't entirely too comfortable with intimate physical closeness when it came down to it, but certain situations called for extreme measures, and it seemed that his friend just needed this. "Stop getting yourself all worked up. We're mates, allright? No one else here woulda chucked meatballs off the roof with me or spraypainted their name on Gator's head while he was asleep, right? Fight me, punch me, stab me, whatever, I don't care. Just be my friend at the end of the day, and don't worry about it."

He squeezed her really hard before releasing her, stepping back a couple paces, but careful not to back into Lani or step on her feet.

"And learn to throw a punch...you hit like a girl."

With that, he ducked his head beneath his arms, careful to block his still-tender nose.

"Come here and shut up,"

Jubilee let Liam pull her close to him, resting her head on his shoulder. It felt strange, but comfortable, even though she'd tensed up a little, getting so close to people was hard for her, and she sensed Liam felt much the same as well. They just weren't that kind of people. But his grip on her and the easy smile he'd given her were helping Jubilee, she didn't feel like bursting into tears any more, which was nice. If he could so easily forget all of what had just happened then she could too.

"I can do that. And those meatballs deserved to die like that." Jubilee said, smiling again as they parted, "I think I'll leave the stabbing for another day, don't want to give you a hideous scar to go with that nose." she added, grinning. "Although you know, I'm sure you could pull it off." she said playfully as she re-adjusted the sunglasses perched on top of her head after the hug.

"And learn to throw a punch...you hit like a girl."

Jubilee gave a mock gasp of indignation, and gave Liam a smack around the back of the head as he ducked and laughed. "Cheeky bugger, I can punch better than you." she giggled, then stopped as she caught sight of Lani again. "Ah, I'm sorry about before Lani. It was just the whole...fight...thing. Kinda got me going." Jubilee hated to apologise, but she did like Lani, even when she was acting a little stuck up, and she didn't want to fall out with her roommate.

Her gaze turned back to Liam with a smile, "D'ya think you'll be safe venturing out there yet?" she asked with a grin. "Think I heard Gator rumblin' about down here a while ago, think you'll be safe going up."

Lani just stayed quiet and watched still, waiting for the little asian girl to settle down. She let slide the remark thrown her way about enjoying the show and simply shrugged her shoulders in response to it, arms folding across her chest and tail swaying through the air behind her, idle and waiting.

Once things seemed to have calmed down a little, all thanks to Liam Lani figured, she murmered a quiet "Excuse me.", dipped her head politely, and made her way past the pair to reach the elevator. She hit the button for the elevator, but as she waited for it to arrive, she couldn't help but to listen to the two still.

"Ah, I'm sorry about before Lani. It was just the whole...fight...thing. Kinda got me going."

The Hawaiian glanced back over her shoulder at the two, blinked at Jubilee, then forced a smile that squinted her already narrow eyes up from the effort to make it look genuine. "It's okay, Jubilee. Tempers and emotions flying around, it's only natural to lash out at someone. I'm a fairly easy target, and don't fight back much anyways, so feel free to vent to me anytime you need it." If there was any self-pity in that sentance, it was cleverly masked by a tone of bland politeness, as usual.

"Think I heard Gator rumblin' about down here a while ago, think you'll be safe going up."

Sighing at herself for evesdropping (not that she could help it, though, the two were standing directly behind her), Lani shook her head and looked back to the elevator door. Her arms remained folded over her chest, almost as though she were hugging herself for security and comfort, and her tail flicked against the floor. Normally it probably would have been whipping about, but what with the two people behind her, she had forced it to keep low and still as possible.

"Knowing James, he probably went to the lake or the pool to cool off. You don't have to worry about him too much, Liam. Just... Try not to get him going anymore, okay? I know we've all had it rough in life, but in his condition with his history, his last straw is a lot more frayed than the rest of ours."

Skye made her way back into the mansion quickly, "aided" by Nikki's frequent tugs on her hand to hurry her up. The 12 year old girl was eager to get out of "blame range" as she called it, for the mess in the kitchen, therefore effectively avoiding having to clean it up. Too bad there isn't anyone with super cleaning powers, the little girl thought as she and her much taller companions re-entered their home. Home. In the short amount of time since Nicole had arrived at the Institute, the slender child had already begun to think of the mansion as her home, decorating her room to her taste and filling it with the possessions that her mother had packed for her. Her mother had practically packed away her entire life into the suitcases that her parents had left her with. And now it was either plastered on the walls or neatly packed away. Just like in her old room.

Nicole pushed thoughts of her parents and her old house away, focusing on where she was being led by her tall, blonde friend. Nikki observed Skye quietly, with a faint smile on her lips, as the older girl talked and joked with Will, Gray, Enzo and Victor. The Brit looked down at the younger girl and smiled broadly, squeezing Nikki's hand. "You alright there, love?" Nicole returned Skye's smile and nodded, "Yup, doing great." Just at the moment however, her stomach gave a growl that begged to differ. "Though I am hungry." Remembering the mess in the kitchen, she added, "But that can wait until AFTER the kitchen's all cleaned up."

Chuckling, Skye turned back to their male companions and said, "Well boys, this is where I leave you. I've got to go change into something a little less... green." Letting go of Nicole's hand, the blonde waved goodbye and climbed the stairs in the direction of her room shared with Teresa. The Brit wondered where her brunette roommate had headed to after showing Liam who was the boss. Maybe she went up to our room, Skye thought. Shrugging to herself, the tall teen opened the door to their room only to discover that Teresa was absent. Shrugging once more, the native Londoner turned to her dresser, pawing through each drawer in turn as she attempted to decide on what to wear. After a few minutes, Skye decided on a pair of khaki Bermuda shorts and a black and white striped tank top. Giving herself the once over in the full length mirror on the back of the door, Skye nodded and left the room, closing the door behind her.

Equilibrium was something that was very important to Liam. As much as he liked to upset the waters around him, there was always a purpose to it, and it was always to make things better for everyone. If that meant that he had to be the one that was labeled the "rebel" or the "troublemaker", then so be it.

It's not like I covet those titles or anything...no bloody way...

"I can do that. And those meatballs deserved to die like that. I think I'll leave the stabbing for another day, don't want to give you a hideous scar to go with that nose. Although you know, I'm sure you could pull it off."

"Ah, you know you wouldn't want to do anything to ruin this lovely face, Jubes," Liam smirked, happy that his friend was once again starting to act like his friend, instead of like the uber-hormonal crowd that seemed to make up the majority of the people at the mansion. He'd come to notice that there were people like Teresa, Skye, Lani, Jubilee, and Enzo, who all seemed fairly level-headed and comfortable with themselves, and then there were other people, who seemed to think that every little thing that happened in the world revolved around them and they spent half their time crying or sulking around the place.

Wankers...everyone knows that if the world revolved around anyone...it'd SO be me.

"Cheeky bugger, I can punch better than you."

"Just stay away from me nose and I will let you keep on believing that one, girly," Liam grumbled, rubbing the back of his head in mock-annoyance. Truth was, it had caught him completely off-guard when Jubilee had struck him in the face. Not so much by the fact that she hit him, but by the force with which she launched her blow. He knew one thing was for certain, though, and that was that he was GLAD that she liked him...otherwise he might have to worry about some other broken appendages.

I'm not even sure I'm safe when she's my friend...crikey...Christ, did I seriously just say 'crikey?'

Smiling to himself as he watched Jubilee and Lani make up, Liam placed a hand in the smalls of their backs and led them into the elevator, striking the button that would lead them up to where their dormitories lay. His finger hesitated over the button for the ground level, but immediately rose higher at the thought of having to stop by the kitchen and receive all of the blame that was due unto him. Sure, it was his fault entirely, and there wasn't a person in the mansion who would hesitate to point the finger at him, but he could at least stave off the punishment for the time being.

"Think I heard Gator rumblin' about down here a while ago, think you'll be safe going up."

"Knowing James, he probably went to the lake or the pool to cool off. You don't have to worry about him too much, Liam. Just... Try not to get him going anymore, okay? I know we've all had it rough in life, but in his condition with his history, his last straw is a lot more frayed than the rest of ours."

"Everyone at this whole bloody place has been on hard times," Liam began, grin fading slightly at Lani's words. He'd heard James' story before, far too many times, and he had to admit that while the guy did have some issues, he didn't see that as a reason to treat him any differently from anyone else. "We're all people here, and I can't treat him any differently from anyone else. I spin you two up, I spin up everyone, I can't make an exception just because he's moody. Call me an asshole (I DO deserve it), but I can't do that."

Doors opening with a whoosh, Liam stepped out of the elevator to see Skye shutting the door to her room, dressed in fresh duds as the ones she was wearing before had most likely been severely soiled. Glancing down at himself, blinking in surprise at the amount of dirt and blood that was smeared across his clothing, he grinned and removed his shirt, slinging it over his shoulder.

"Oy, Skye!" Liam called out, moving down the hallway with Jubilee and Lani. "Have as much fun with that as I did? I saw you railing on Cessily...good on ya. She totally had it coming. And Jubilee broke me bloody nose? Didja hear that? Knocked it right out...I was bloody impressed...speaking of, where's Teresa, huh? I need to compliment her ball-kickery skills..."

Smirking, he leaned against the wall and crossed his legs, eyes smoky as he cocked his eyebrow in Skye's direction, hoping she had as much fun with the whole experience as he had.

Ah...nothing like a good fight...cleans the sinuses right out...or maybe I should attribute that to the blood loss...

"It's okay, Jubilee. Tempers and emotions flying around, it's only natural to lash out at someone. I'm a fairly easy target, and don't fight back much anyways, so feel free to vent to me anytime you need it."

Jubilee returned a smile at Lani's forced one, although it was difficult. Could she sound any more self sacrificing? Lani was really starting to grate on Jubilee's nerves, but there had been enough fighting for today...unless of course Lani did anything else to annoy her. Jubilee had apologised sincerely and Lani had made it sound like she was immature and unable to control herself. That wasn't Lani accepting her apology, that was Lani trying to make people feel sorry for her, even if she was trying to hide it.

As they entered the elevator Jubilee kept her blue eyes focused on the cold metal wall ahead of them, barely listening to what Lani was saying about James. She just didn't want to listen to her complaining, but trying to make it look like she wasn't, anymore. Jubilee wasn't one to lash out at people unless she felt they deserved it, so she wasn't planning on taking Lani up on her oh-so-kind offer anytime soon. She was regretting apologising now, it should have been her apologising to Jubilee for what she said Jubilee thought bitterly.

"Everyone at this whole bloody place has been on hard times. We're all people here, and I can't treat him any differently from anyone else. I spin you two up, I spin up everyone, I can't make an exception just because he's moody. Call me an asshole (I DO deserve it), but I can't do that."

Jubilee nodded slightly at Liam's words, he was making sense. It wasn't like James was the only person who'd been to hell and back, although he had been through a lot, but not all hard times came from what your living conditions were like. Pain could be caused by other things as well. As the doors of the elevator wooshed open again Jubilee blinked, surprised at how quickly they'd arrived and at where they were, not not on the ground floor like she'd expected.

She smiled at Skye, hoping the blonde was going to take the whole fight thing in her stride and not hold it aganst Liam. After all, no one had been hurt, not really. Then a smirk crossed Jubilee's lips as Liam said he was impressed by her punch. It wasn't every day Liam admitted to being impressed by something. It looked like the fight had really done something to him, although Jubilee wasn't sure what it was. She walked across the corridor past Liam, ignoring Lani completely and leant against the wall, stretching her arms above her head and then linking her hands behind her head.

"They all cleaning up too?" Jubilee asked, glad that for the most part she'd managed to avoid the grass stains and blood. She rested one foot on the wall behind her, forgetting again how many times she'd been told not to do that while wearing boots by various adults in the mansion. She tapped her toe lightly on the wall as they spoke, "and anyone important found the mess we made?" she asked with a wide grin, forgetting about Lani for a while as she emembered what they'd been doing.

Skye had only walked a few steps outside of her room before she heard her name called out, by none other than the prat who'd started the whole mess in the kitchen and the lawn to begin with. The blonde had expected to be angry when she saw Liam again but actually found herself relieved that the Aussie hadn't been torn limb from limb. There were more than a few people after his blood, that was for sure. Still, she had to laugh at his demeanor even after the severe beating he'd received, if the amount of blood on his shirt was any kind of indicator. Skye chuckled and shook her head at the lad.

"I did, yeh. She deserved more than that, bloody nutter. But maybe she'll be a bit wiser now and stay the 'ell away from me. And Jubes broke your nose huh?" Skye turned her gaze to Jubilee before grinning and saying, "Nice work!" with a thumbs up. Laughing, the Brit shook her head in response to Liam's question about Teresa's whereabouts. "I haven't seen her since she whaled on you. I wanted to congratulate her." Grinning once more, Skye closed the distance between herself and the trio, leaning the wall opposite Jubilee.

"They all cleaning up too? and anyone important found the mess we made?"" Jubilee asked. "Mmm, well I know tha' Enzo was going to go change bu' as far as I know Vic, Gray, Will and Nikki weren't going to, so who knows where those go' off to." Skye shrugged. "And as far as I know, no one's found the disaser in the kitchen. Nikki was intent on getting as far away from the mess as possible. Didn't want to get blamed for something she didn't get any fun out of making I expect," she added with a chuckle.

The blonde glanced casually from Jubilee to Lani, sensing a bit of tension between the two girls. Skye was curious as to the origin of it, but wisely kept her mouth closed. It looked like Jubilee was intent on ignoring the obvious and the London native figured that she could always ask her later. Clearing her throat, Skye said, "So where are you lot headed off to?"
